To funny, i guess everyone has an opinion since you saw everyone freaking out saying that wasn't the recommended battery. Yes you can use the AW 18650 protected 3100 mAh rechargeable lithium battery

on you provari. Same brand and everything that provari recommends. They simply don't have the 3100 mAh. This affects nothing other than the total available charge so the battery will last even longer.
batteries are not rated in Volt Amps. They are defined by their terminal voltage and their capacity. The capacity is the product of time and current.
Specifications
Dimensions18.52 X 68.16mm ( +/- 0.3mm )
Normal Voltage3.7V
Capacity3100mAh ( rated at 0.2C discharge 4.2V - 2.8V @ 25? )
Operating TempCharge 0 to 45℃ / Discharge -20 to 60 ℃
Max. Charge Rate885mA ( 0.3C ) - ambient temp. 25°C
Max. Discharge Rate5.8A ( ambient temp. 25 ℃ )

Here is what provari sales
• 2000 mAh
• Nominal Working Voltage: 3.7V
• Peak Voltage: 4.2V
• Dimensions: 18D x 65H mm (+/- 0.5mm)
• Weight: 40 (+/- 2) g
No you wont burn out anything, you simply wont change batteries as often.

I am sure they will get around to picking it up. In the meantime i found them at ecig express for rather cheap and the same brand provari uses. The vendor i found them at is rather irrelevant though. That was just where i stumbled on them and they seemed to have good prices on that item at least when i compared their battery prices with what provari and them have in common for batteries.

Provape use to have an extension ring for longer protected batteries they had for a while but I see they don't any more I wonder if there is a reason for that . Protected batteries are a tiny bit longer because of the protection circuit so they don't fit right in the provari without that ring .

I'm moving away from Li-ion toward IMR. I've watched the failure mode videos on both. I don't want anything that can fail catastrophically in my ecig. I'll use IMR battery mods from here on out. There's no sense in using a battery that make something in you hand turn into a rocket or an M80.

Protection circuits are good ... if they work in time ... or at all.

Provan should change the information if a 68.16 battery will fit. A lot of people will go by te 65mm =/- 0.5mm and be put off trying anything longer.

The Panasonic NCR set new standards for LiCoO2 batteries with their heat reducing later and ability to withstand short circuit.
Generally, Lithium Cobalt aren't a problem unless you buy Ultrafire or anything that looks too cheap to be true.
