Travel and Vaping Provari and the TSA

I just went through security at FLL and a full bag search.

The reason was my new Provari. I had it near a Hershey bar, and because of the shape, battery, and organic material nearby it looked suspicious (the Provari looked like a detonator apparently).

After a full swab test, they pulled out the Provari and asked what it was, which I explained as an electronic cigarette. They were familiar with ecigs, but was surprised by this one.

In not bashing the TSA at all, they were very courteous and professional and doing their job... I'd much rather be delayed 10 minutes than have something bad sneak by.

I did not have a problem on my way here, but it wasn't near a candy bar.

Just FYI to other travellers... a metal tube with a battery next to a organic materials doesn't look good on the xray machine!

I wonder if it would help if you printed out the relevant parts from provape.com, and brought that along?

Actually next time I will keep it out of the bag and have it screened separately, along with pocket change, belt, watch, etc.

They let me go on my way once they pulled it out and I explained. I was very patient and courteous, and that went a long way I think. Just realize that they are doing their job to try and keep us safe, and I'd rather they err on the side of caution than not (and told them this).

I only mention this for the benefit of other travelers with large battery mods like this who may be tighter for time than I was.

Best place to keep mods, batts etc that I have found is in the computer bag. I travel often (and mostly international) and carry several devices. Since starting vaping 20 months ago I have passed through security checkpoints around the world well over 100 times and have only been asked twice about a device. Once in China for a Darwin and once in the Netherlands for an Ego. The Netherlands questions were not security related but more about how it works and was I able to quit smoking. The three security people were smokers!!! So Endor you are correct keep batts and PV's near other battery operated stuff and you should have no issues. Happy vapes and safe travels to you

guesswhoy0, I've traveled a lot (including internationally) with my eGo and never had an issue.

I'm not sure I'd worry too much about it. If they want to inspect, maintain your cool, be gracious and courteous, and let them do their job. They have seen e-cigs before...

Thanks! I just got through airport security with my eGo with no issues. I wanted to bring my stainless steel lavatube but I didn't want to go through that hassle.

guesswhoy0, glad to hear it worked out for you.

Give the LT a try next time. If you're concerned, either put it with your other electronic devices as Liv2Ski mentions, or put it in one of the plastic screening containers with your shoes and such so that it is visible (which is what I'm going to do in the future).

Im going to the dominikin rebulic soon and I was wondering if theres any problems with brining e juice? I dont fly alot buy I know a while ago you werent aloud to bring liquads I dont know if thats still in effect or not?
