I'm using standard 510 attys (joyetechs) and I'm scorching my juices. Any suggestions?

It seems like higher vg juices may tend to handle higher voltage? I blend most of mine at 80PG/20VG... is that my problem?

Any help would be appreciated. Right now, I'm no happier than I would be using a standard battery...

Cheers!

Atomizer @ 2.4. Works OK at 3.7, pushed it to 4.2, seemed ok, pushed it to 5, and it crushed my juice. I dialed it back down, and I'm going to have to try to clean this atty cuz I can't get rid of the burnt flavor.

"Hey Doc, it hurts when I do this"

"Then don't do that!"

Just want some sort of reference as to what's safe... What are the qualities of juices that work well at higher voltage?

And I do appreciate that it's more consistent over battery life than a standard battery... Just wanted to experiment a bit...

HMMM........

I haven't yet had the chance to "appreciate" the stable power! I've only had it in my hands for an hour or so!

Hi Wil!

That's why I'm sitting back eating some popcorn and waiting! :)

Please, don't take it the wrong way :)

I'm curious to read what your comments will be after you've used it for a while and after you find your sweet spot!

I hear ya. I'm not giving up yet... I've got too much money in this thing!

I should probably also say that I'm really just starting to drip, and I may not have a handle on that yet, so that may be part of it too... Brand new atty still has that same burnt taste, so I may not have broken them in properly yet either...

So, maybe I have too many variables to figure out for sure what I'm having issues with... time to break out the "isolate and eliminate" methodology, I suppose.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

I use 2.0 ohm attys at 5 volts, and 3.0 ohm attys at 5.5. I also use 80/20 and 50/50 mixes depending on the juice maker. I think the darker juices tend to burn more, just my personal experience. Are you keeping those attys wet? I drip 4-5 drops in a BE510, and 6-8 drops in the ego mega atty. High volts-low ohms need lots of juice. YMMV.

You guys rock... just as much as the Provari does!

I'm getting the hang of it. I think my problem was my attys, and something I did to them trying to learn to drip... Dripping seems idiot proof, but I guess I'm the bigger idiot they created as proof of concept that nothing is idiot proof.

Anywho, my attys that came with my original Joyetech 510 kit were the ones giving me problems. I opened a different one (dunno the manufacturer) and it was suddenly a whole new world. Then I went back and dry-burned my Joye attys (why not? I wasn't going to use them the way they were) and they suddenly came back to life as well. Maybe they just hadn't been broken in yet or something. I'm not sure what was wrong with them, but they're ROCKING now. Once I get the hang of filling 510 cartos I should be set (or until I get my hands on a tank). Hate dealing with dripping at the office, and carts just aren't cutting it.

You confirmed what I thought, that lr attys are a good cheap way to headfake 3.7V batts into acting like 5.0V. I do remember a little of my college physics! All of my attys are running around 2.8-3.2, so I should be good to go there.

I'm dripping 2-3 drops at a time, because it seemed like the one time I dripped more I flooded it out. I'm typically running 80/20 but I think I'm going to mix my next batch at 70/30, since I can get the throat hit at 5V, and I must admit I like the plumes of vapor...

I feel like I've come a long way in a short time... In about 3 weeks giving vapor an honest chance, I quit smoking 2 1/2 weeks ago, and went from a ....ty (ok, not bad, but way overpriced) V2 kit to the Provari, and I'm loving it.

Thanks again for the advice and encouragement!

Remember the provarie is giving you the volts going out of the atty not into the atty i own 2 and you set it at 3.7

about to order a provari and have a question now

so if i wanted to mimic my current set up of a 3.7v battery and 1.5ohm LR attie.... would putting the provari at 3.7volts be different? (i understand that when you take a battery off the charger it comes out at a slightly higher voltage than stated.. but i guess i'm just asking generally speaking since i know the provari will give a "true 3.7 volts")

It shouldn't be different if the watts are the same. You're getting a consistent 3.7v (input) with the ProVari. Your experience is really a factor of volts, amps, and watts. Here's a link to a spreadsheet that a few have found useful.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ari-variable-voltage-mod-358.html#post3187539

Notice that as you move to a higher resistance atomizer, the amp draw is lower to achieve the desired wattage (your output). So higher ohm atomizers at a higher voltage (input) draw less amps meaning longer battery life.

Watts is really the number you're looking for. Most people find the sweet spot somewhere between 6 and 10 watts.

3.7v on a normal mod is not exactly the same as 3.7v on the Provari. This is why the Provari starts at 3.3v. Normal mods rated at 3.7v are actually 3.7v UNloaded voltage, but when the Provari is set at 3.7v, that is the loaded voltage.
