Provari constantly flashing (depleted battery)

Hey guys,

I've got a pretty annoying problem regarding my Provari. At first I thought I had gone through the standard life cycle of my batteries but I was proven wrong when I used two new ones for a day. After a random time of lets say three to four hours it will start flashing the button's LED to show the battery's energy is depleted. I'm using the standard AW IMR 18500 which used to last almost a whole day for a couple of month. I don't know what caused this problem. I tried cleaning the contact in the Provari with pure alcohol with only very little improvement in battery life. I can get the same battery back to life when I unscrew/screw the end cap but it will start flashing again within an hour the lastest. Do you guys have any idea what's causing this problem? Please don't suggest to send it to provape because I'm from Germany and can impossibly wait for a maintenance of several weeks...

You already have 1/2 the problem solved, now clean the threads on both the cap and body. Add some Noalox Thread Lubricant or any Conductive Grease to the threads. This has resolved this issue with several Provaris I own.

hmmm If playing with the battery cap gives you a bit more juice, I could only suggest thoroughly cleaning both treads with a used toothbrush or something and then putting some of the

It does sound like bad conductivity... since it gets a bit better by unscrewing and screwing back on...

Oops! Forgot to get the Noalox with my order. I guess I'll make a trip to Home Depot, tomorrow.

Noalox is not magic. Do clean the threads but more importantly where the battery top makes contact inside. Not only is alcohol effective but you also might want to use a pencil eraser. Also make sure the spring is well seated. How well it's seated can really make a big difference.
If you have a version 1 you'll want to order the updated spring.

I've been having this issue and thinking of getting another mod (apparently Innokin VTR caught my attention), until the blinking got more frequent and decided to google and found this very informative thread.

Took me not more than 10 minutes to clean the contact point, apply Noalox and voila, Innokin can wait until i get tired of this bad boy.

Since the battery cap is the ground for the battery, the battery cap completes the electrical circuit. The bare stainless steel metal of the threads gradually accumulates which is something like rust and appears like dark grimey material in the threading. This interferes with the battery conduction.

Well, I just ordered the long qtips and isopropyl alcohol as my provari has been lasting 3-4 hours if that lately. I'm using genuine aw imr 18650's that are only a month old. I thought it may be from using dual coil cartos but I'm hoping this cleaning fixes it. I bought the provari used a month ago but it came with noalox already on the threads. The stuff arrives monday so I've got my fingers crossed

I'd get some 98% or better isopropyl alcohol. I had to order mine on amazon, any percentage less isn't considered electronics safe. I use it for cleaning the contacts and a bi weekly douching. I live in a very dusty environment and mine gets full of crud quick. I don't care much for Noalox, I have problems with it gunking up and I don't think it's as effective as simple white lithium grease. I use a tooth brush dipped in iso to clean my threads and it gets them shiny clean, pretty quick, with the Noalox your supposed to rub it on then wipe it off and to me it just seams like too much of a hassle. I love it on aluminum mods, hate it on SS ones. I think it was designed for cleaning and preventing oxidation on aluminum.

Thanks, that's exactly what I just ordered from Amazon. And I acutally didn't buy noalox, I read some reviews that stated ox-gard from amazon is better so I bought that. I'll wait to apply that on monday after the qtips and isopropyl alcohol arrive.

I didn't have noalox so I just used rubbing alcohol to clean my contacts and thread area. It was pretty dirty and it made a difference. Went more than 6 hours on my 18350 battery. I'm glad I read this thread.

That's where I bought mine. Look in the electrical department. Buy the smallest quantity offered - a little goes a LONG way.

You'll be fine with 70% on the tube, it's circuit boards that like pure stuff.

Thanks. Just cleaned it. Used a pencil eraser for the contact near the circuit board. Hopefully it will cure it.
