The best way to test is to pull the post of an atty or carto and see if it fires. Use a jewelers screw drivers and insert it into the hole in the bottom, angle it and gently pull up. Rotate and repeat until the post is raised.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have already done that.

Thanks for all your reaction, guys. I'm now trying to get my money back. The guy I bought it from has his own mod brand and i suppose he wouldn't fancy negative publicity.
