Provari drained battery to 1.8

Just thought I would let everyone know about my mistake. I assumed the provari would stop taking power from any battery thats below 3.2 volts. Well I have my provari in the car as backup to my two should it fail. I remember a couple days ago the light was blinking on it. Decided I would just bring it inside and charge it. Well it sat for a couple days inside with the battery in it. Just put it on my xtar vp1 and it tells me the volts are 1.88. I double checked with my multi meter. So don't leave a battery in the mod if it wont be used. Just a heads up.

They will run down if you ignore the blinking light or turn the LED off. It's especially a problem with the Stealths, since they don't blink.

Yeah I guess I never really noticed it. Battery charged up just fine. Thats the first time I have ever overdrained a battery. Now I know lol

I think it would be more accurate to say that leaving a drained battery in the ProVari, in the cold car for several days, drained the battery down to 1.88v. The ProVari didn't pull down the charge, the cold did.

Its been very warm here in san diego. If it was the cold then that did it quick. And when I last checked the battery it was 4.0 volts about a week ago. I havent had any of my batteries drain like that without help from something. I do know I am to blame for not bringing it in and charging. And the battery is fine now anyway.

Weird. I would be concerned that something was wrong with the battery or the ProVari.

That's weird. I've left my provari blinking for 2.5 days. Came back and checked and it was at 3.0 V.

If the battery charges and works fine and the ProVari works fine, I wouldn't worry about it. I've accidentally run mine down until I can't get the LED to light up. I doubt my battery was down to 1.88v, but who knows.

Most certainly. No LED, no fire, no nothing. I've gotten to the point where I don't leave batteries in the Stealths, since I don't check the level very often. Sometimes it will be weeks before they make it into rotation and when I go to use them the battery is dead.

You do know leaving lithium batteries in a closed vehicle where temps can climb to 120 degrees on hot days is a really dangerous thing?

Yes I do. And I am well aware of any danger present. I keep a temp gauge with the provari under my passenger seat. The gauge never gets higher than 73°F. I do have tinted windows and always keep a sunshade in the window when not driving. If it vents one day I know its my fault not provari or aw. I would take full blame. I will continue to do it until I move to arizona.

I don't trust what voltage my LUC Smart Charger says the batts are discharged down to because it always shows them with more charge than the PorVari's do. But I do trust my Fluke VOM (multi meter).

I meant when I ran mine down, not the OP. I don't have a multimeter, hence the "who knows?"

At first I didn't trust my vp1 either. So I double checked with my multi meter to be sure. Then when I recharged I stayed close by in case anything happened. Didn't even get warm. I am glad I got that charger though. I like being able to see voltages during the charge rather than led lights
