Hello Provarinatis,

I've finally got a Provari, but I had to get it used since I didn't have the funds to get it brand new (I also understand I have no warranty). I've been using it for a couples days now and this afternoon in my very very silent office I started noticing a very faint but high pitched sound coming from the Provari when I was firing it. I tried to replicate the sound with no load on the Provari itself (took off my carto tank) and its perfectly silent. As soon as I get home I will try it with other delivery system to see if I can notice that damn sound. In any cases is that something considered "normal" since the PWM is using a high frequency? For all I know this device has never been dropped or damaged, its cosmetically perfect I'd say, and since i got my hands on it all I did was baby it and make sure to wipe my connector clean and etc. I'm kinda worried that i'd have to send it to Provape at my expenses and pay for repairs.... that would kill the sweet deal I had in the first place. So help me please you Provari Pros.

Thanks in advance

mine does that too, and i got mine brand new, i just figured i was the only person that noticed it lol. i'd say it has something to do with the electronics, and is probably entirely normal.

I blame my musician ears! too damn sensitive. I still wish I knew if its 100% normal, thanks for your input kind sir.

I tested it last night with a few different RBA's (maxi Genesis, Chobra , DuD, A7, Pheonix dripper) and even with my DCA 306, and only that carto tank seems to make the sound happen. I isolated myself in the most silent room to do the testing. So I'm a bit comfused, only my Boge F16 makes that sound come out of the Provari and I used 2 different cartos to make sure. I also made sure its not some airflow whistling.... it truly comes out of the chipset according to my ears. I'll keep testing and see what I can find. thanks to all of you who answered

Mine only makes the faint high-pitched noise when my bottom cap is slightly loose or the spring is dirty. If you loosen the bottom battery cap ever so slightly you will probably hear the noise as well.

Jeez, you're right!! I just checked my bottom cap and the spring was dirty (but not loose) and before I cleaned the spring I also noticed it was doing more often with one of my batteries in particular an AW IMR 18490, yet my other AW didn't do it. After inspection one of them is a tad bit shorter. I'm guessins all batteries are not fabricated perfectly. Now the mystery of the high pitch sound is solved.

thanks sdex.

@DoogieTony, apparently some people at the office could not hear it at all when I had the offending battery in, so its quite possible that the pitch of that frequency is not heard by everyone.

Thanks to all of the people that took a minute to answer to this thread.

Awesome fellas. My Provari Mini has been a champ and I absolutely love it. It's been we'll used by me for a couple months and it was handed down from a friend if mine who's had it for a long time as well.

I was up on a latter and sat it in one of the tool holders. I know, I know, I should have known better than to be vaping on the ladder but I was going through the house putting all the smoke detectors back on after painting. Anyway, it fell through the hole and dropped about 5 feet hitting the tile floor. No damage to the Kayfun or the Provari, but it started this high-pitch sound.

A google search brought me to this thread. I took the bottom cap off. Wiped it off. Put it back on and it's good to go. No more annoying sound!

Thank you!
