This is normal and typically something you will only hear while in a quiet room. The converter pumps current using a high frequency and sometimes you can hear it working, but it should not be very loud and most people don't notice it.

This is by design.

Latsly, I am happy to have this justified. Some people were telling me that I was crazy, which made me think something was wrong. Maybe I just have good hearing?!:laugh:

I used to able to walk in the computer lab at school and know which crts were on by the whine, even though they were facing away from me.

30 years later, have lost some high frequency hearing but still hear whines in certain circuits, just have to be closer to the source now....
