Ok so I just acquired a Provari and a Russian 91%. My first coil I built was a 2.0 and seemed to do well. Today it started kinda giving me readings all over the board when I checked the resistance. Started at 1.3, jumped to 2.8, down to 2.4. That is all in one reading. So its all over the board as to what my resistance actually is.

Could someone tell me what I might be doing wrong. Is it the provari? I doubt that is the case and I am sure as a new builder I am doing something wrong, but am unsure of what would cause this. Thanks for your help.

OK so I lowered the pin on the Russian for the 510 connection. Seems to maybe have done the trick. Does that seem a plausible reason?

If it wasn't a loose coil screw that would have been the next thing on the troubleshooting path.

I find the Provari to be kinda "fussy" when it comes to having a solid electrical connection to the 510 post. If it's at all off for any reason - including liquid in the 510 connector - it can result in flaky resistance checks on the Provari.

If your Russian has a spring loaded center pin, there is a known problem.

I don't know if it's your problem.

I have 4 Russians. The oldest has the original screw type center pin, the two middle ones have the spring loaded.

The newest, a black Russian which I got a week ago, went back to the original screw type.

One of my spring loaded ones has that problem, and a friend of mine's would not work at all except on certain mechs that he could adjust the center pin of the mod high enough.

You will know by this test - if you can loosen the Russian, then tighten it back at barely finger tight (looser than you would normally keep it, but not enough to spin easily), and it reads correctly for awhile, you have the center pin issue.

If you bought it from a reputable vendor, they will have received replacement center pins for it, and should be happy to give you one.
