Unless you are droping it alot or scratching it against something the Black Satin is a bullet proof finish....

My shiny Black Chrome looks like the day I first got it. Not a scratch on it. Almost 1 year old. Definitely bullet proof.

I was stalking him a little while ago. I got mine in the mail not 15 mins ago. I love the blue LED. I can see it more clearly now. Hopefully my "Provari" etching will last longer on this one. It is almost hard to make it out on the older one.
