I'm thinking about upgrading from ego-c twist to provari for xmas

I already have a protank 3 and am wondering what people prefer in terms of single vs dual coil atomizers.

Also , I'm wondering what people prefer or like the most in terms of resistance on the provari... do you like high ohm or low ohm resistors ?

PS - if anyone has cheaper , similarly performing alternative mods to the provari please let me know ... could use the extra money to stock up on a bunch of juices :D, currently I only buy one bottle at a time :/

My preference is the Protank 1 (no longer available) but I like a cooler, airier vape

Dual coil is almost always warmer and vapier (vapier??? - ok, we really need to get some these words registered as actual words soon)

I don't believe the Provari will fire below 1.1 to 1.3 ohms and will have an amp draw limit so no need to worry on low ohms - high ohms will require you to set the voltage higher to get a satisfactory vape

and just about any of the alternative mods will be cheaper and in some cases perform better than the provari ie:VW, telescopic for different battery lengths etc

BUT!!!! the provari is American made, has the best warranty out there, has the best quality control (most of their factory defect blems they sell are almost indetectable ie: why is it a blem? see that little 0.00001mm scratch on the top cap by the 510 connector where you screw on your tank? that's why its a blem - quality control inspectors must all be ex Soup Nazi's with OCD) Provape will rebuild almost like new for almost nothing

with this being said
get your self verified and then go to the "for sale or trade" subform here on ecf and get a used one (there is almost always a used one for sale there but if it is cheap and looks good it will be gone in minutes so be prepared to say MINE! without thinking about it too long)

I made the jump from Twists right to Provari. It has been a great step up in performance and Vaping enjoyment. If you can afford it, you won't regret it.
As for other high quality mods, in terms of a great steady even Vape, the MVP uses circuitry very similar to the Provari, so it performs
Much the same way. But it is a Totally different animal. It is a Box mod. The battery inside it is permanent. When it dies, you throw the whole thing away. Same if it breaks. But. It is less than $50.

As for atomizers for either the Provari or MVP, I prefer carto tank set ups. I am finding the higher resistance cartos give better flavor and hit than the lower res ones. That may just be my personal taste.

I have also been testing the Aspire BDC Vivi Nova atomizers. Only been using them for a few days so I am not yet ready to say if the are better or not as good as carto tanks. I WILL say they are different. Taste different. Hit is similar. But there are some oddities to this system.

Lot of people love the Protank 2. I didn't. Never really liked the Vape or flavor on them.

Hope this helped.

I agree with all of this post except for this statement. Nothing performs as well as the ProVari IMHO. Telescopic is nice though, and some like the VW which I dont due to battery usage.

I wont go on and on as to why a ProVari performs better (800MHZ military grade chipset VS 33mhz chipset ).. but due to this, it WILL make your juice/topper taste better in a side by side comparison and gives you a very smooth consistant vape.......same voltage......swithcing topper back and forth. It just does.

For the money, the SVD is made well and is very durable (37 bucks at fasttech)....MVP if you dont mind a square box... 40 Bucks or so...best bang for the buck IMHO. I have one of each and are still in use after 8 months of service, but I still prefer the ProVari. ( the others are being used by family and friends)

I have a Semovar also, but we wont go there.

I do use carto's over a protank, but if you can get any kayfun or russian 91% or one of their clones, that is the best vape that I have ever had. You just have to go through the learning curve of building your own coil and using a bit of cotton. The Russin so Versatile...It is a Dripper, its a rebuildable, its a tank system and its a carto. Adjustable airflow. Really quite amazing. You can get a cheap made Knock off at Fasttech for 12 bucks (free shipping) called the rocket, and is cheply made, but works great...(the real one is about 125.00 and extreamly well made)...there is a nice well made clone at China buy for 22 bucks and shiping.

Anyway..my two cents.

Many mods may have more "features" than the Provari, but In my opinion no comparable regulated mod performs better than the Provari.

Not trying to bust you out Dakota Jim just giving my opinion.

There are Kayfun lite clones on Ebay right now for less than $40. The ones made by Tobecco are exactly like the real Kayfun lite tanks. I have a real Kayfun lite and one of these clones and the parts are interchangeable. There is honestly no difference at all between them other than the Tobecco clone has adjustable air flow. I like this clone so good I have another one on the way to me now along with a dripper and two more Protank 2s.
I plan to only use the real Kayfun lite, the two Tebecco Kayfun lite clones, my dripper and my three Protank 2s for all my vaping going forward.

The other clones of the Kayfun lite are not as good as the ones by Tobecco. I have had them in my hands and they are poor quality in my opinion.

The cheap ones will cost you more in the future, as you will need to keep buying them as they fail, but what better way to try all of China's finest?

I prefer low ohms and low power on my ProVaris and ProVape-1s- at least for Alice In Vapeland juices, which I almost exclusively vape with them- in PT2s. Haven't tried the PT3 yet; still waiting for Tatroe to make a cap for it.

I can't in good faith recommend ProVari, however- no puff counter nor vibrating tip, or VW- for those who haven't yet learned to vape.

Can't compare the dual coil PT3 with the single coil PT2, as all my ProTanks are PT2's. All ProTanks are bottom coil tanks/atomizers. I will get a PT3 at some point. Right now they're pretty new, having just come out recently.

I like my PT2's, but I love my iclear 30's. And now my iclear 30S! They are both dual coils, but top coils. Plastic tank instead of glass, but that hasn't been any kind of factor to me so far. Love the rotatable drip tip, and now on the 30S, you can unscrew the supplied drip tip, and use any regular drip tip. Not that I will, but some people don't like metal drip tips.

Not going to comment on the Provari issue, as your OP was mostly about PT's.

best regards, larry mac

I have major fail with top coils!!!!!! I just can't get them to function the way I'd like them to, the vape is great, but I get leaks.......urgh... and the wicks sucking up a lot of my juice and ending up being cleaned out.:glare:

It's one of those things where if I leave them alone for a while, and pick them up later, the light bulb goes on and everything works.

I use a Provari and love it. I also use the Pro Tanks.
I would recommend that you get an Aerotank or if you want the Pro Tank 3, to get the Aerotank adjustable airflow base to use on it.
I chose the Pro Tank 3 over the 2 because I was told you can use Pro Tank 2 single coil heads in it, and the 2 has known airflow issues on the Provari. I also think the 3 looks better on the Provari than the Aerotank.
I haven't actually tried the 2 heads in the 3 yet so I can't verify if it works or not. I hope so, but if not I will rebuild the dual coil heads with single coils. The dual coil is great, just much easier and more consistent to rebuild with single coil (ymmv).
I have experienced a tighter draw with the 3 on my Provari versus anything else. Because of this I am ordering an Aerotank base for my Pro Tank 3. As soon as I can find somewhere that has them in stock ( those things sell like hot cakes because they can be used on the original Pro Tank and the 2 and 3 ).
Hope some of this helps.
