Tried a Brick and Mortar vape shop today and picked up a nice little tank. Got it home, filled it, fired it up on the ProVaril. Heard a crackle-crackle and got "E1" Had it set to about 4.5 which is what I use on the other tanks. Seemed to work again once I turned down the voltage, disconnected it and reinstalled. Anyone have similar experiences?

In an unrelated note, has anyone noticed shortened battery life in cold weather?

Im in Minneapolis. Cold weather is about all we have.

I use only DCT's on my Provari.

You said you heard a crackle crackle...was it followed by a pop? If it did double check your resitance. Ive had some cheap DCTs ( also brick and mortar bought ) pop ( ive never taken one apart so I assumes it popped only one coil...I could be wwrong on that though ) but still work as long as I brought the voltage down.

My battery life by the way is one 2000 mah every 16 hours...but I vape constantly as well

Yes, some cartos are duds. Your Provari didn't short the carto out; the carto was bad. It happens a lot.

No. But then, I live in California.

I have only used 18650's during winter, so I have nothing to compare it to.

We're missing a key piece of info... What is the resistance of the carto?
If it's below 1.4 ohms (or drops below 1.4 ohms under load) the Provari will throw an error at 4.5 volts.

Vidi: I did get a pop right after the crackle so that must be it. I don't know what the resistance is, the tank from the store didn't come with any documentation. Went back later in the day and bought some replacement cartos that are single coil and they work fine.

On the cold weather thing, I learned from my camera equipment that shooting outside in cold weather cuts those batteries' life in half, wasn't sure if the same applied to the ProVari battery. Being a nice, solid piece of metal, the provari does tend to suck up cold. LOL

If that dual coil is 1.5ohm and your running Provari @ 4.5 v that equals 13.5 watts / 3 Amps...........

Provari v1 has 12W limit and Provari v2 has 15W limit ....

You may be approaching the limit of the Provari at that voltage ....... hence this is why I hate dual coil cartos, because a lower voltage on dual coils will give you a subpar vape.
