Ok, been playing around with the Semovar and Kayfun 3.1 and Kayfun Lite quite a bit now. First of all, I knew the Kayfun was great from the Lite, but I did want the air control feature of the Kayfun 3.1, as I vape all wrong, more like taking a drag on an analog. Hard to break that 35 year preference. As such, my coils don't last long with my dark, sweet, heavy juice.....and, I don't care. I like what I like....and you don't hear me complaining, lol. The reason I bring up the Kayfun is that the hybrid connection on it with the Semovar is something special. Fewer connections, better conductivity, theoretically better vape.

Semovar with Kayfun 3.1 in hybrid mode
Well, this is the best vape yet. My ADV's are my Provari and Provari Mini with Tatroe's and Phiniac's, so I can make my mini take an 18650, and often do just that. The Provari is rock solid, but somehow, I've chosen to baby my Semovar. Took it out once because I was in a big hurry, but mostly an at home device. As I mentioned previously, I love variable wattage, rarely use it though, and the eVic's are just not in the same league with these other devices.....sorry, too bad, so sad, but durability and repairability on a $100 investment counts. And, with my Kir Fanis tubes, it's a $200 device as well, but does not belong in this discussion, imho. So, the Semovar may be the best variable voltage APV out there. I haven't done the DNA20 route yet, but I have considered it, and chose to go SvoeMesto first, and glad I did, particularly with the easy build, silica/cotton/whatever wicking build on the Kayfun. About a minute to rebuild the coil and back to vaping. Easier than a clearo rebuild, imho. 3 wraps of 32 Kanthal, 1.6 Ohms, rock and roll. The Semovar will handle a one Ohm coil which is pretty spectacular, and I did build a 1.1 Ohm coil and it worked just fine. It takes fifteen minutes to learn the menu system, which becomes intuitive after you learn it, but was just different enough that I had to check out a cheat sheet to make it all work. I think I watched a Todd video on it.
I was just as surprised with the vape, as I was when I switched to a Provari. In other words, my jump from China 33.3 to eVic was enlightening. My jump from eVic to Provari was enlightening (better vape), and my jump from Provari to Semovar was also enlightening. Direct current with fewer connections does provide a better vape, imho. I certainly don't consider myself a veteran or an expert on anything, but I have real world experience on a lot of gear, and I try and give my honest, no agenda/bias feedback to the Forum. So, I can say the Semovar is the best APV I have ever owned. That being said, I've dropped my Provari maybe 50 times, the Mini Provari never, for some reason, and the Semovar never.....knock on wood....so I can't speak to the durability at all. However, I think it would withstand a drop pretty well, I just would be quite forlorn with even a small scratch on my Semovar.
I have all the pieces that are out except for two mechanical pieces that have not been released yet. One of the reasons I went with the Semovar over the DNA20 APV's was that they have the full APV, the hybrid and the full mechanical modes. In other words, three PV's in one, and, as their ad says, 27 different configurations. So, once I have the mechanical pieces, I'll be complete with SvoeMesto. Very happy with this one. Can't really compare it to anything else I've seen or used. It's the best. A great top of the line device. Highly recommended.
I must share one other thing with you. I have been collecting for almost a year now, pretty much everything I could get my hands on and have a lot of gear now. In fact, I only have the Just GG and Ithaka left to get, from my wish list. Clouds of Vapor did get the Just GG back in today, so I did order the GG and Ithaka, got notice that it's in the mail to me, and this completes my VapeGearQuest. I finally have everything I've wanted and lusted for these many months. I have been using an Ithaka clone for four months and just love the build and the vape on it, and wanted a true top of the line mechanical, and since my Semovar can't be a mechanical yet, I opted to get the GG. So, I'm done. That being said, I do love the Provari in polished stainless steel, so maybe my Christmas present, but, other than that, I'm finally done with my VapeQuest. Again, that being said, I now have 29 PV's/APV's, and my Semovar is number one, I believe my Just GG will be number two, and my Provari's will be number three....I'm done! Thanks for listening and caring, 2 coils, Katya and State O'Flux! Best to you!
