Value is so subjective. When you ask if something is worth it, then you are immediately assigning "value" to it, and that has less to do with the device itself, and more to the user.
The question you need to ask yourself is what do you "value" and does the device meet those needs.
As far as a ProVari goes. It is arguably one of the best built, best performing, variable voltage power supplies ever developed. That's something that really can't be argued. However is it worth it is based on what you and only you "value". When determining "value" you also need to place a value all the points. That is why when we make decisions we put things into Pro's and Con's. If the Pro's outweigh the con's then we go with it.
For example....
If you look at an MVP2 compared to a ProVari, you see two very capable PV's that are almost polar opposites in their philosophy.
The MVP 2 is an all in one package, that provides a high quality vape in an easy to carry form factor. It combines the battery, APV and charger in one package. It is insanely inexpensive, and built reasonably well. It provides maximum compatibility by offering eGo and 510 threading. It also allows users to choose variable wattage or variable voltage However, It is also designed to be thrown away when it's battery wears out.
The ProVari is a high quality mod designed to use commonly available rechargeable
batteries. It is made in the USA. It is designed and built to last for years. It is also priced accordingly. It offers best in class voltage regulation and performance across it's design specifications. It is a variable voltage only and 510 threaded device. If you want variable wattage, you are out of luck and if you need eGo cone threading you need an adapter. If you will be out and about for any extended given period of time, you will either need to bring additional
batteries, or an external charger.
Those are the specific facts.
How you value or not value each one of these makes up your decision. There are no wrong answers here. Just what is "right" for a specific user.
When people are giving their opinion, they are really telling you what they themselves value. If it aligns with what you value, then that's what you go with.
For THIS vaper, I prefer the ease of use of the MVP2. I prefer variable wattage over variable voltage. I don't attempt to find the sweet spot in all my juices, just a common wattage that will provide good flavor and vapor production across all the juices I use. I prefer the convenience of not having to tote extra batteries around as I am almost always close to a phone charger...(I wish my phone would last as long as my MVP2...). I like the fact that an MVP2 has a low replacement cost. If I lose it or break it, it is very inexpensive to replace. It also allows me to have several MVP's so that I always have a nice backup. (I personally rotate between two....)
Build quality is important to me, but not the overriding concern. If my MVP2's last at least a year, then I consider that a win. I personally think an MVP vapes just as well as a ProVari with MY preferred
juice delivery system (topper). So that is a wash.
But as you can see from above, I placed value on each of the points, and for that reason went with the MVP2.
But I'm unique just as everyone else here is unique. For someone who values build quality above all else, the MVP 2 doesn't cut it. For someone who values using standard replaceable batteries, the MVP2 doesn't cut it. For someone who values "made in USA". The ProVari fits the bill.
The point is....not whether the ProVari is "worth it". The question is...is it worth it for YOU..... And no one can answer that except you.
