I want a v.v. tube mod, but I don't want to drop $175 on a provari. (I realize everyone has their own best vape) but I want the opinion of others on what would be comparable to a provari in performance, just a little cheaper. Just give your opinion and I'll research what best fits my needs.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
p.s.
I already have a Vamo. I just want a primary vape, and use the Vamo as a back-up.

My advice is to take your time researching here on the forum. Visit the individual sub-forums for each mod you are considering and see what people like and don't like about their choices. All the Chinese-made mods are relatively similar in performance, they only differ in button placement, battery configurations, and bells & whistles which don't really affect their ability to provide a better vaping experience.

Chances are you will find each has their pros and their cons. None will be without some flaws in their design, build quality, or feature set. For some, even the Provari has either a lack of features they believe to be important or they can not justify the cost of a better made mod.

I have no idea where Tamarac is, but if you have a vape shop that carries regulated mods, go and see them in person, handle them, vape them (if allowed). Nothing like seeing a mod in the flesh before you buy.

While choosing which mod to purchase, keep in mind that all of the mods except for a Provari can be considered a throwaway once their short warranty has expired. Few of the mods made in China live to experience much past their first birthday. On the other hand, the vast majority of the original Provari's are still in service. They have a 1 year warranty, and even in the rare event that a Provari should require repair Provape will repair it and have it returned to you good as new within a weeks time, for as long as you own a Provari. Owning a Provari is a long term investment for the long term vapor. Maybe consider saving a little longer to buy a one. Just consider these facts.

Sorry.... This isn't a tube mod but a box mod..... I missed that in the original post........ :p
Not only not a tube mod, but it has a non-replaceable built-in battery. No one knows how long those batteries will last. One? Two years? But the truth is once it stops holding a charge, it's literally a throwaway, too.

You can pay as little as $40 for a Vamo, but if the connector threads wear out within 3 months, you've got a dead mod. You can pay $100 for an Evic, but if you drop it wrong and it cracks a head, you've got a dead mod. Being able to get your mod repaired is something people don't consider it seems, or they have become so accustomed to the disposable society that we live in they don't care.

Because a Provari can be repaired for as long as you own one, it can be expected to be used for many years...probably as long as you want it to.

Don't get me wrong. I own both a Provari and an origninal MVP. I enjoy both of them. But given a choice, the Provari wins hands down every time. They're worth the extra money.

The OP titled his thread "Provari?" Seems he is still considering one in the back of his mind.

I bought an SVD for the wife. I mess with it from time to time. It seems to be pretty solid. You can use 18350, 18490 or 18650 batteries without needing any extra tubes...just extra time for all the screwing! Take that however you want...
As has already been pointed out, it's a throwaway. When it's done, it's done. But, having had a Vamo, this thing seems a lot better...good threads, relatively easy menu....I like it. Pretty cheap.

A little solder and a new battery will fix a dead MVP. Only problem I have with it is the firing pin is really low..really low.

Edit. Look at the vape pro. All advertised features were tested by a scopemeter by me, and they were dead on..the voltage output was ~+0.1 volts off..but that is no problem for me..better than negative. RMS frequency at 33.3kHz, as told in specifications.

ProVari's cost $159.95 but ProVape sometimes sells blemished ProVari's in their Clearance section for cheaper.
Or try to find a used one. I see people selling a ProVari so they can get another color. Keep an eye on eBay.

Good luck finding a battery for the MVP. Have you seen what one looks like? It looks like a bag of jello.

I have a vamo v2. The connector is undeniably fragile. Mine is fine 6 months in because I do not use it. I stuck a 510 to 510 adapter in it day one and thread things into that so the wear and tear is on the adapter and not the vamo. The way I feel about vaping these days I don't think one should have to do that.

If I had to do it all over again with a tube mod I would get a Sigelli Zmax. Much more solid build.

my top choice for vv/vw kind of thing though is not a tube mod at all. The variable version of the REO. I just really prefer the on board juice and squonking to mucking about with clearos, cartos and tanks. BUT the variable REO you are back into the $200 range and if you seriously prefer a tube then Provari would be the answer.

Why did you title the thread "Provari?" Why didn't you title it "Vamo?" or some other mod you don't want?
