i'm well aware that we are a small community and need to stick together and support the folks brave enough to provide the products we are all enjoying so much as an alternative to smoking.

in order for this to catch on to other folks, we also need to harshly critique the products available so that they will continue to become more user friendly for us and the newcomers and the 'thinking to become newcomers', etc.

i've been wrestling with the protege manual switch from day one. several times a day i disassemble the device and have to adjust the switch so it can make contact with the points and work properly.

i realize puresmoker sells a replacement switch for 30$ and i'm sure i'll eventually get one. cost isn't the issue, but this is the problem i run in to on a nightly basis when i go out:
people are stunned that i can smoke inside and can't smell a thing. they initially want in to our community, but after i explain the details, i realize they just want something that works every time and is bulletproof. i live in a state where it is illegal to sell PV's, but you can order them. once people hear about the maintenance and issues, they want no part of it.

too much thinking and time for them to get involved.

i guess my question and reason for weighing in is that we are having our rights yanked out from under our feet on a daily basis. the only way we will be taken seriously as a relevant group is that there are more of us.

we live in a world of non-mechanical, lazy ...... who can light a cigarette and smoke it, but are unable to figure out how vaping works. this needs to change.

big tobacco has deep pockets and if our community doesn't make adjustments in the 'ease of use department', we will be quite literally out in the cold with the analog crowd, fiddling with our neato star trek gadgets.

i want our hardware to be closer to idiot-proof so we can have a louder voice.

Puresmoker has a 6 month warranty so why not get it repaired? Something may be defective at no fault to the vendor or manufacturer. Switches are a known issue.

If you are saying vendors and manufacturers are ...... for a bad switch than you are not being realistic. If you understand switch technology a momentary switch small enough to fit in an ecig that deals with a heating element hundreds of times a day has never been developed for that function. Since you are using a mod you cannot expect the manufacturer to design their own switch.

i've taken the switch apart and am always able to make it work. i'm not talking about myself. i'm trying to speak to our industry who designs and manufactures these parts so i can assure my 'still smoking anologs' portion of my family and friends that the alternative is solid and won't require them to call me daily to find out why their vaporizer isn't working.

smoking analogs is simple. light it, smoke it. if it goes out, light it again.

our method requires quite a bit more care and upkeep.

i realize it won't happen overnight, but we need to let the people who make our hardware know what we want.

we need to grow our scene fast, before laws are made to take it away from us and the only means of enticement we have to gain a larger group of willing participants is to make vaping dip....proof.

The long and short is education. There already are near fool proof units. The important thing seems to be this.

First things first, ease of use, near fool proofing, lazyness on auto..etc..

1) Cartomizers - If you want it to work with the LEAST amount of fiddle, if any at all, this is NOT an option, this is a MUST. Screw it on and off you go.

2) Learning how to refill Cartomizers OR just paying a bit more to replace them. No explaination needed.

3) Trusted Units and Manufacturers. Starters with trust seem to commonly be 2 units (the most) a 510 and a KR808.

4) ENOUGH WITH THE DAMN MARKET CONFUSION!! Get everyone in line. Stop changing the names of the units UNLESS EVERY SINGLE MANUFACTURER is going to post a comprehensive model list and what the sam hell it's compatible with. You tell someone model # XX is also YY ZZ AA BB CC, and this part works with this unit, but that manufacturer has the same unit, but it may not work with manufacturer X's custom piece..

Solution to #4. KISS. Keep It Simple, Stupid!

Pass it on.

The Vaping must continue!

your passion for our community is contagious. most posters seem to think i'm trying to piss on the campfire when i'm trying to send a bold message to the manufacturers to elevate our position and quit poisoning the well with multiple proprietary products that will confuse new users. i'm not .....ing for me. i get it. i'm only speaking for the folks coming in who will drop this alternative to smoking cigarettes like a wet turd because of the confusion.

thanks for weighing in
