Hey all, my name is Evan and I'm here for help. I'm a long time smoker that like most of us has tried and failed, tried and failed....you know the story. I've come to the realization that I can't quit, because I truly enjoy smoking. I think I love it, but that sounds lame.

Last Christmas I was at a family member's house and I noticed that she was smoking inside. I was confused and she explained to me that it was an e-cig. She let me try it and I went out and bought a Janty e-go. I loved it at first but the dripping thing got old. About six weeks later Janty came out with the e-go re-fillable cartridge. So I bought one because of my annoyance for dripping. I really enjoyed it until the liquid started to work through the cartridge and into my mouth (Johnson's Creek Liquid). I also had a problem that it started to develop a burnt flavor. I noticed that the hole in the cartridge would begin to grow oblong and allow the smoke juice to fill the atomizer and leak through. After 3 weeks I was done, and went back to my Camel Wides. I understand that you need to buy new atomizers but I thought it should last longer than 3 weeks.

I'd love to go back to an e-cig there must be an easier way than what I experienced. Please help.

Tanks you mean? (no stuffing in them, go on a special atomizer)? Many have trouble with leaking. Or do you mean the cartridges with stuffing that stick into a normal atomizer? They dump juice with no warning. Clear cartomizers that don't need an atomizer? They can crack and leak.

Try normal cartomizers metal cartomizers w/ stuffing inside. Most people use cartomizers. Buy and learn to use normal cartomizers so you have something that works. THEN experiment with other stuff. Try Boge 3 ohm to learn on (just warm) then try the hotter 2 ohm ones. These are the most popular cartomizers on 510-threaded devices. You can buy 5-packs at Goodprophets, LiteCigUSA.net, Liberty-Flights.com (if they have them in stock), NiteLiteVapor.us, and Crystal Clear Vaping sells 15 at a good price

----
Carefully remove the end cap without catching any stuffing or wire. When I fill the first time (and whenever adding a lot of juice) I hold tissue against the threaded end hole of the carto. Tilt and drip in 18 drops slowly (wait after the first few which may take longer to soak in). Then I wait 15-20 seconds. Then I see how many more drops the stuffing will soak in easily. Then I do cleanup of the threads, then tilt open end down into a tissue and puff into the threaded end hole to make sure the air channel is clear, then while still pointed down I touch soft tissue to the top of the stuffing to sop up any excess (helps prevent leaks). Then to settle it I let it lay on different sides for 15-20 minutes to spread the juice to every area of the carto. 15-20 minutes is more than enough settling with the thin juices I use. Only the first fill needs some settling time (to make sure every bit of stuffing is damp).

As I vape, I keep it damp. If the vapor seems light or dry or tastes even a tiny bit off or if the carto is getting abnormally warm, I see if it could use some juice. And you can also check the top of the stuffing - if it has gone white you could probably add a bit of juice before heading out or putting a new battery on it etc.

I get best results with thin juices, PG w/ 20% or less VG. And I avoid juices that seem to drop a lot of flavoring sediment in the stuffing. If you learn to keep these damp, you can expect a week or more use out of each. And only put juices you know you like into cartomizers.

------
One Camel-like juice is FreedomSmokeuSA.com Desert Ship and I recommend the 80PG/20VG for these simple cartomizer OR for your tanks or whatever you are using. 30% VG might work OK. I just get batter carto life/dragging with 80PG/20VG (though less vapor). I would also add other flavors to Desert Ship to keep it interesting (vanilla, chocolate, a sweet caramel tobacco like oRYental 4, etc). Now I am more into cocoa tobaccos but Desert Ship was my analog-alike

And sorry - JC if 100% VG is too thick for these cartomizers. VG is too thick for almost everything. It doesn't flow fast enough and then your atomizer overheats, things crack or break. You could try thinning your JC a LOT, like 5-10% distilled water and try with your refillable cartridges but I think it will still be too thick. SOme people say they can vape 100% VG in dual coil cartomizers but I don't know which brand of juice (some vendors thin their VGs) nor what method they use to fill with VG.
--------

For higher capacity, there are all kinds of BIG tanks like Liquinator and Torpedo tanks and Stormy's ttanks, ARRY, MAP tanks. But I don't know if any will work with thick liquid.

I know how you feel. (Read my signature line.) I "loved" smoking so much that I had resigned myself to the fact that I would actually die from it. I just knew I could never quit. Had "tried it all". Even having a heart attack at 42 couldn't get me to quit. I knew I should, I knew I had to. But I couldn't. Any way, I remembered someone, somewhere along the way, had mentioned "a smokeless cigarette", I googled it and viola! I landed on the doorstep of ECF!!! I researched and learned all I could to make an informed decision for myself.
At this point, you're familiar with the ego. It's a great device. Just take what you like and didn't like about the set up and tweak it till it does. E-cigs are not plug and play devices and there is some maintenance and replacement costs involved. But you would be spending that money on stinky sticks anyway. (By the way, you should commend yourself for being a newbie and keeping an atty alive for 3 weeks). I know that others will chime in and share information with you. Soak it up and take a look at the ECF library. There is so much information there. So many members have contributed helpful guidance and instruction for newbies to use on their quest. Read, read, read. Learn all you can. Stick around the forums. It's a great place for information, support, friendship. Welcome to ECF!

Hi Evan,

I generally get about 5 weeks out of one tank cart before i replace it on my ego-t ..I am not sure of Janty products as the local vendor I by my stuff from here in Ottawa(canada:) capitalnicfit, only sells authentic Joyetech products which i have read are one of the best,,, but the tank carts im sure are very similar if not the same... you are right the hole does seem to enlarge after a while but the carts are cheap at $6 for 5 so when they get loose just swap them, out. as far as burnt taste goes there was probably more liquid leaking out than getting down on the atty ..hence the burning.... dont give up!! :))

I was in your shoes once upon a time. I spent hours doing research watching youtube videos and I must say if it was not for the contributors on ECF and other communities alike I would still be smoking analogs. I started off using the ego tank system (similar to your device) after a while I was not satisfied. I am in the military I do not have the money to spend on every new device that people say are great. I finally got sick of the cravings and went back to analogs. After a week of smoking analogs I remembered why I wanted to quit, and with the help of some suppliers I found that by using LR cartos and attys on my ego battery gave me the push I needed to reduce the number of analogs before I finally gave them up for good. So here are my recommendations. Use cartomisers with an ohms rating of 2.4 or lower. You can find suppliers on here that sells them. Another recommendation would be the CE2 clearomizers they are very fragile, but with a little clear tape you can reinforce the tube. Cartomizers are disposable but can be cleaned and reused. Information on that can be found in this forum. One more thing remember that what works for others may not work for you. I found that out the hard way! Keep trying and do not give up.

Thanks for the advice. So I have a Jatny eGo and eGo-T. The batteries that came with my eGo measure 3-3/8" in length. The batteries that came with my eGo-T measure 2-13/16" in length. I didn't keep the original paperwork that states ohms. Does anyone know what they would be? I'm going to order 2 new atty's for the eGo-T. I saw that a couple wrote that the JC smoke juice won't work for it. Any recommendations? I'd like a strong flavor and nic.

...iff'n it were me, I would skip the tanks altogether and goto Crystal Clear Vaping and pick up a bundle of Boge2.0LR cartos and take your experience up a notch...just fill and vape...each carto should last 5-7 days before needing to be replaced with a new one(about a buck 15/ea)...you can save up the old ones and clean for another go round or just toss 'em, they're cheap(I clean them once)...with the bundle, you will get FREE, 2 drip tips, a syringe and shipping...do yourself a favor and try these cartos..........
