hi everyone
i have this problem
my friend gave me an Ego Janty his dad never smoked, and i refilled the atomizer in a e-cigarette shop in ukraine(i live in ukraine), bought 3 cartridges (medium, marlboro taste - didn'd feel it), and today, the e-cigarette started having this bitter taste, i can't even inhale the vapour because it burns my throat, a very bitter feeling. So i returned to the shop and the shop assistant put another cartridge on the cigarette, and it had a bitter taste, so then she put her atomizer onto the battery and her cartridge on the atomizer and she told me it was bitter, i didn't try...
should i buy a new one (this e-cigarette is almost new)

has this happened to anyone before?
thank you

I'm confused.

Refilled the atomizer? The atomizer is the middle part of a 3-piece ecig: battery + atomizer + cartridge

If the atomizer is new, it has primer on it and primer tastes awful.

Did you check to see if the cartridge is melting at all? Sometimes 510 and Ego can melt the plastic of the cartridge, especially if they are low-quality non-Joye cartridges for 510.
To help prevent that, try to line up the atomizer bridge /\ and the juice cup of the cartridge.

And always pull-off and push-on the cartridges - do not twist them or you can damage the atomizer.

You definitely should have 1-2 spare atomizers. Atomizers can die. If you have a spare and you have eliquid, you can try cleaning your atomizer with hot water and then shake it out well and blow it out then try to dry it with a hair dryer. Before using you need to prime the atomizer bridge /\ with 2-3 drops of eliquid then wait to give it time to be absorbed down to the heating coil. If you don't have eliquid for priming the bridge you could try using 100% glycerin from the pharmacy thinned with a bit of water.

It sounds like either your atomizer is still filled with packing fluid (gross tasting, but not harmful) or else it's dry inside - the atomizer should always have a couple drops of e-juice in it to keep it wicking.

Take off the atomizer (the middle part) blow through it while holding a tissue to the other end. Then, drip 3 drops of e-liquid into it where you see the mesh hump sticking up inside. Lastly, check your cartridge to see that it still has liquid at the top, it should look like a slushy on top. Put the cart on and vape.

With this kind of e-cig you need to have e-juice (e-liquid) to make it work. You'll need to add a couple of drops of e-liquid every vaping session to keep the cart topped off.

Good Luck :)

Soak the new atomizer in a cup of hot water for a few minutes. Then blow out the excess water. This will remove the primer fluid. (You might have to soak the atomizer two or three times to remove all the primer fluid.) If you want to dry it out quickly, you can use the Highping dry-burn method.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/69834-my-atty-resurrection-method.html

Then drip in 8 or 9 drops. After about 9 drags, drip in 3 more drops. (Dripping 2 or 3 drops into a new, empty atomizer isn't enough liquid. You'll most likely get a burnt taste quickly.) However, dripping in 9 drops (into an empty atomizer) will result in having to drip much less often, since 5 or 6 drops stays down in the ceramic bowl. Also, rotating three or four atomizers all day long helps to decrease the number of times you have to drip in 3 more drops.

This method is when using atomizers only and not cartridges or cartomizers.

thank you very much!!!
as you see on the photo, the filter from the cartridge got on to the atomizer and it started burning up because it was dry...the glycerin worked!!! thank you man!!! you saved my life =)

oh yeah, and what is the difference of the e-liquid and glycerin not counting nicotine?

Many e liquids are made using a combination of PG (propylene glycol), VG (Vegtable Glycerine, Glycerin) Flavorings and usually nicotine. You can get them without PG or without VG and even without nicotine.

The glycerin used this way is a good primer (to replace the icky stuff ) when one doesn't have any spare e-liquid and can be bought locally at drug stores. It is always good to prime the atty after a cleaning.

Cignot.com has a good tutorial. (link below) The atty (atomizer) is the part that makes the vapor -- the picture you showed with the metal mesh.

Sorry, should not have used "icky stuff". Brand new atomizer's often come with some primer in them that doesn't taste very good , though it does quickly go away as one vapes. Many have learned to remove it from new atomizers and replace with their own e-liquid.

Gylcerin is a food product and found in edible items around the house. It is also in tobacco products, so you've been inhaling it already. Go to the health section of this forum for lots of info on the e-liquid ingredients & safety.

and how long does the atomizer have the primer fluid? because i have a bitter taste when i take big inhales, maybe because i only put glycerin onto the atty and cartridge. but at first it tastes good and then, in about 45-50 inhalations it becomes bitter. maybe it's the primer fluid in the atty?
oh yeah, i have too much smoke coming out of my ego, like a shishah, it's so awesome

It could be that you have vaped away the juice in the atty quickly -- or too quickly. It can taste harsh if too vaped too dry or too often. I find that when atty is used too much it gets pretty hot to touch & that affects taste. Just let it sit for a couple minutes & try again and you will know if that is the problem. It's not the original primer, that should be long gone by now.
And, as you can see, glycerin produces a lot of visible vapor.

And, I'm eager to see what other more experienced ECFers have to say---

When I drip 3 drops into an atomizer I can get about 7 drags before the flavor drops off, at 10 puffs I get the harsh bitter burn. The same is true when I use cartridges -- except I get a few more drags and that it. Unless you get either cartomizers or some sort of juice feeder, you'll need to be prepared to top off the juice quite often.

Good luck!

The Ego Janty and the Joye Ego are equivalent hardware, made by the same manufacturer. The standard atomizer and cartridge hold about 8 or 9 drops of ejuice. This is enough for maybe 30-40 light puffs. After that, you get harsh, burning taste. This is the sign that you need to add some juice! Your cart is going dry.
