PT to battery comparison~

i guess the first thing to keep in mind is, i've only had my VK things for three days.

it's been explained to me (thankyoubelle) about the USB output on a laptop vs. say, a full tower or even a car. i noticed i wasn't getting much vape off my PT on my laptop (a macbook) but ... i was also trying to get into the swing of using a manual, too.

in my car, i got REAL good vape ... at first. it's a new carto, so i know that's not entirely the issue. i'm using blueberry on my PT right now, and the throat kick is perfect, but the vape output is really not any more than my regular sized batt, or even my shorty.

is there a reason for this, or is it because it's a manual PT and perhaps the auto ones are better? i read a lot that the XL batt gives an output 'much like the PT,' but my PT is really on par with my other two batteries.

I get awesome production out of my PT, and the Extra Long is almost equivalent. I had issues with my Blueberry cart as I put in my post a few minutes ago, and wasn't sure if the Blueberry ones are all like that, or if I got a bad one. I don't receive much vapor or flavor on that cart. But I'm pretty new myself, so maybe we are doing something wrong

Some flavors just don't offer as much vapor as the others and there is even slight differences in from cartomizer to cartomizer. I believe it's one of the issues Leaford is working on in China for us.

lolol, cubi! we can fail at blueberry together! it's sad -- i got SO much of that juice, too, thinking i'd like it? but i really don't -- not as much as other flavors, anyway.

taryn -- i think i will try a different flavor carto on it when i leave today. i did try the lichi while on my laptop but that was in the 'freakoutlearningphase' and it's one i mutilated when trying to practice dismantling the cart for a refill (v. embarrassing story!)

I mutilated a cartomizer myself when learning refilling, I could have likely saved it but just tore it apart fully so I could understand what's going on inside for my next attempts. If you just lost the white cap and/or o right you can take one of the condoms and cut a hole in it and use it instead, kind of feels nice on the lips.

I really suggest just ordering a bunch of random stuff. I never in a million years thought that menthol flavors would be my all day vape, but alas, my tastebuds have spoken It's funny though, I can't stand the tobacco flavors. I've learned a lot in my couple of weeks, and I know there is a lot more for me to learn, but I'm enjoying every minute of it(except the 2 days I made myself sick with 36mg juice8-o)

Hehehe, it could be worse! I've heard stories of people tossing their ecig out the window like it was an analog after they finished vaping it, and others who have "stepped it out" and smushed it flat!

i LOVE the menthol. it'll probably be what i stock up on the most, but there's definitely other flavors i want to try, too. i'm up in the air on an XL batt though, but a lot of that will depend on my PT testing with a new carto when i leave, so i can see its "true power"

Yeah it's funny I am the same, absolutely HATED menthol cigs, so much that I'd rather go without. But when it comes to ecigs, because of tastebuds coming back, I hate tobacco flavors but LOVE the menthol/minty ones, so much that I just got 16 5ml bottles delivered heh.

Just got my XL and it's now my fav, been using my PT on my towers USB ports which are 2.0 but didn't get great vapor from it, think I will need some more XL's.

You know if your computer wont power your PT you can always pick up USB Dual Power Adapter for under $4 including shipping and just plug it into the wall and vape away. You can even plug it into an extension cord for a longer reach. I'm getting one to vape with on my couch while watching movies.

taryn, i'm totally getting one of those. & i was wondering if someone who understands electronics better than... me... (adrenalynn maybe... cough) could explain why the PT kicks ... on some lappys but not on others? idle curiousity since mine works great on mine.

I think I read some laptops/netbooks have some lower power ports and one higher power port for charging things, not certain though, could be your problem. Gonna have to dig out the manual for my tower/mobo and see if my case ports have enough, they should do it's a damn quad core powerhouse heh, but I do find if I charge through 1 port and use the PT on another on the same USB motherboard connection, the charger goes from red to blue every time I vape so maybe not.

andrew, i noticed that too -- about the red to blue thing, the first night i got my kit and was using the PT on my macbook's USB port. so i was told (by lovely belle, lol!) to unhook the charger and then vape. it was still the same -- i DID get a vape cloud, but not like the ones everyone here seems to be getting off their PT. now, i also was trying to figure out how/when/how long to hold the manual button for, too. when i figured it out it was easier. since then i've figured out the right way to 'pull' off V4L's products.. but i haven't tried on my macbook since, because i was so disappointed.

MUCH better vape in the car... i've used blueberry and raspberry in there, but after the first few times, it turns into 'eh' vape. i mean.. i can't complain, i guess.. i'm getting what i am after; the throat kick, the nic, the 'action' of smoking, but it doesn't seem to be on par with everyone else. i'm not sure if i should try an auto PT or what. i'll keep playing around.

so, i think i finally - FINALLY - got my PT 'method' down. this time on the (nervewracking due to weather) ride home, i got some good vape going. slowed down, deeper drags.. i'm just not used to having to 'pull' like that with both cigarettes, and the janty i used to have. either way, i'm happy, because i was really starting to get downhearted about the PT.

and things keep changing for me...
just killed out my first reg batt -- took a little more than a day of steady vaping, appox 1 cig's worth per 'session'. now, i just put my second reg batt on the carto i was using, and the vape output is FAR BEYOND what i got off my PT in the car on the way home tonight--and this, considering i'd finally found 'the right method' for PT manual vaping, no less!

i probably am the *only* one, but i'm really not a huge fan of the PT. not disappointed in it... but i'll take reg batts over it, i think, and shorties, from now on.

(...and might try an XL with next order, just to see.)

I love my passthru. It goes everywhere with me. 5V on cartomizers is the ticket. I'm looking for a strong dual port USB cig lighter adapter right now. The one I have produces ok, but nowhere near as well as the dual port wall adapter that's mentioned earlier in this thread. I'm betting that all in all, you've either not been able to get your PT enough power to make it work best, or got a bad PT. Check to make sure the threads on it are clean, my PT was not producing so well, cleaned the threads with steel wool, back to rockin!

i'll do that. it's only 3 days old, but you never know. the car output (with the car adapter sold on V4L's site) works better than my laptop, that's for sure. i just use my regular batts while chilling online here.

I have the V4L car adapter, the dual port AC adapter works better than that. It's a 2amp unit, so I'm looking for a 2 amp unit for the car too. We seldom use our batteries.
