Also, first post! :D

You started the thread - first post dibs don't count :D

Most people I've met seem curious at first, then after about 5 minutes, they either ignore it, or they try to tell you you are wrong. I've been called Mr. fake cigarette smoker in a bar by some random dude too. I quite liked that description.

I'm respectful of where I vape and how, but I am quickly becoming immune to people's opinions - good or bad. I do this for me, if you want to comment, then knock yourself out, just don't expect me to care that much that you have an opinion on vaping when you have only known it exists for about 10 minutes.

I haven't had anyone in public ask me about Vapeing yet... However the other day I'm sitting in my car, just got home from work and was gathering myself to go in and some guy walks by heading for the garbage bin, he glanced in my direction as I did him at that point I was Vaping my Vamo he dumped his garbage in the bin and headed back the way he came, I has put my Vamo down while still getting set to exit my car.

He then came to my open window and asked if I had a spare smoke, I replied sorry I don't smoke. He then simply carried on with his business, I then picked up my Vamo and took another hit, he glanced curiously but continued on.

I finished getting ready and proceeded home, he wasn't curious I guess.......

That's the closest encounter of the 3rd kind I've had, lol.

Now as the warmer weather has set in here I well be out and about more, should be interesting as I'm not the most sociable with strangers. Now outdoor patios should be fun, but I've no intention on changing the world. I won't Vape where we are not allowed to smoke in public, subject to change of course, lol.

Have a Vape I mean great day.

When I was first starting and using cigalikes, my sister and I were in a crowded park to see an eclipse, and she pulled out her e-cig, got a bunch of NASTY looks...until she pulled on it and it lit up green. Then everybody grinned.

Now, with my bigger mods, I get questions about medical substances, and I answer with "No, my understanding is the liquids are different and if I put something resin-based in this I'll end up with a very expensive mess." People laugh.

Now I mostly get "Oh, are you quitting smoking? How wonderful!" or "Does that really work? Would it work for my Dad?"

That's the reason I use my cigalikes in public, and find that the stainless steel batteries w/ glowing blue tip get the most favorable reaction.

(Slightly OT: Next time somebody asks me "Is that one of those fake cigarettes?" I'm going to answer "No. I'm a human fog machine!")

Some people will never change their view on e-cigs. Others, maybe even most, are starting to come around and accept them for what they are, an alternative to smoking that is MUCH safer. My Cardiologist even congratulated me and said nicotine in itself will not damage the heart. Yes, he did say that and about a dozen of his other patients have stopped smoking with the e-cig. They saved my life. I had been smoking for 35 years and had high blood pressure and cholesterol, NO MORE.

Yeah you know, I really can't see nicotine in and of itself being much worse for us then caffeine (which if you've ever cut it out of your life you know that it will give some nasty withdrawl headaches) which is a drug that basically all of society is totally cool with. Hopefully as people become more educated about vaping analogues will start to have more laws created to push them out of the way and vapes and ejuice will become more widely available/socially acceptable.

I have a Vamo and I vape in public (in approved areas), I vape at work and (gasp!) I vape in the house at home! (I know right?! omigosh!!) Anyway, the way I feel about it is if someone has an issue with what I'm doing, the problem is with their perception, not my action. I'm happy to explain and/or brag about making the switch from cigarettes to vaping. (Ok I admit, I brag!) I extol the virtues and benefits and either encourage their interest or try to pique it. I refuse to let someone looking at me in the wrong way hinder my progress toward a more healthful form of nic addiction. It's my life and I'm not living like a lemming. :p

After smoking 28 years I pretty much am immune to public perception. I do however enjoy the attention my PV gets. See I don't hide it and am glad to answer questions people have. A stainless Zmax topped with an IBTank sticking out of your shirt pocket gets noticed.

"This is my Personal Vaporizer, keeps me from smoking, three weeks now with no cigs"
"No, it does NOT taste like a cig, there are hundreds of flavors available premade, but this is my own homemade brew 'Chocolate Macchiato'"
"Yes, you can get cig flavored juice"

I have only had one negative experience. At the park two ladies walked up when my wife and I were vaping/watching our daughter play. One was very interested and was asking all the normal questions. Then her friend rudely ended the scene with "Well XXX quit smoking with those and now he is addicted to that" and walked away with her 300lb self (addicted to twinkies maybe) nose in the air like she settled THAT issue. She actually 'huffed' after she said it.

Some people's kids....

I use eGo's with clearos when out and about as they are less conspicuous then any of my full sized mods. They don't look like cigs so I don't get that reaction either.
Most people are rather supportive but I have gotten the "so, when are you going to quit that?" question a number of times. Mostly, I respond that I have no plans at this point to quit but may reduce the nic level as I go.
Once, a coworker was insistent and went on about how that was not really quitting smoking. As she is always complaining about her diet but never seems to lose any weight, I explained that quitting nicotine is much harder then dieting. I then asked her how her weight loss is going. She was not pleased but never commented on my vaping again.

I've been smoking off and on for about 30 years. Seem to give up cigarettes, feel better for a while, and for one reason or another slip back into smoking. But now I have grandkids, and living in Maine, smoking outside the house is sometimes not so much fun. So my wife and I would smoke indoors if we knew they were not coming over, but the house still smelled like smoke.

Well, I was one of those smokers who just didn't understand the option of vaping... until my wife bought me an iSmok disposable. I loved it, and was great when we went home for a family vacation that I could sneak a vape even indoors and no one was the wiser. I'm using a Halo now, and do use it in public. Most times I hold it like you would hold a drum stick... Just pull it out of my pocket, take a drag, and put it back in. I've been asked "what's that", and I tell them it's just a nicotine dispensor, like chewing gum, but instead is dispensed as a vapor. They then will say "oh, trying to quite smoking huh...", and I'll smile and say "yup, quiting smoking". Which is in fact what I've done.

If they want to know more about it, I can explain the different flavors, the different levels of nicotine, how vaping is different from smoking. For me, I don't sit and puff like how you would smoke through a cigarette. I usually take a puff or two, and put it away. Do this about every 20 minutes or so. And I like the fact I can use it in the house now...

When I'm out I use my small volt, and at home my large battery and clearomizer. I do get looks, but no one has asked me what I'm doing. If they did I'd educate them :p

I'd LOVE to find a top that would be OK on a small Volt. I no longer like cartos, and I tried M3's but the tops keep popping off. Ideas?

I finally got pulled over puffing my PV on my way to an AA meeting. The cop was rather amused, he thought it was some type of drug paraphernalia. He thought it was a cool device and asked where he could get one.

It's cool to be able to vape in most non-smoking buildings, and being in a 12 step program there are a lot of folks who are heavy smokers and looking for an alternative, and I've about 10 folks setup with eGo-T's and good juice suppliers 6 of which are now analog free and happy about it. Even the non-smokers are fully supportive of indoor vaping in the places I frequent.

I notice that people are interested in what it is because of the scent the different juices give off. Although I have not vaped in a public place (i.e. bar, restaurant, ect.), I still have friends that are very interested in getting one now. Even my family who smokes are becoming more interested in them since I have quit a little over a month ago.

That sure would be nice. I just got asked to not vape at my desk or in the office after doing it for the last 2 months. Apparently the "odor and vapor" is offensive to someone I work with.

Where I live, a certain substance is legal for medicinal purposes, and a lot of people have medical cards for it. I haven't had anyone even curious or bat an eye when they see me vaping. I guess either they keep their questions to themselves or assume I'm one of "those" people with a card. Meh.
