I see people just take vaping everywhere since its not smoking but vaping, even when smoking is not allowed.

I see there is a good point about this but I dont think this will work on every country.

Example. If someone comes to you and says "Mister you cant smoke here, you just reply, im not smoking" which is true.

In english, the word smoking comes from smoke so there is a big point there.

Same for german, where smoking is said "rauchen" and comes from "rauch" which is smoke.

But lets take this to spanish level. There the word smoke is "humo" and you dont say smoking "humeando" you say "fumando" which is completely other word then smoke.

So if there is a place your not allowed to smoke you cannot say "Im not smoking" since fumando, means to anything, that includes smoke or not. You would be catched since you had to explain its not smoke and they would just say i dont care, you cannot "fumar" here which has nothing to do with the word smoke.


Im sure the same problem comes in other languages where you dont use the work that comes from smoke to express the act of smoking.

Crap, NYC is filled with signs that declare No Fumar. I did not realize that would include vaping since I have no knowledge of spanish.
