PUFF PLATINUM STARTER TANK

Hey, somewhat new. Bought a cheapie 7-11 PUFF PLAT starter kit when my other el cheap-o pen took a ..... Don't expect much, but I do have a question about the tank. It looks like lots of other clear atomizer tanks w/ 1 exception. There is this rubbery thing sitting on top of the tank. If you lift off the tip, you can see this white rubbery thing that looks like it has additional wicks attached to it. With my finger tips or a pair of tweezers I can pull it off. It lifts off easy enough, but I'm afraid that it will pull the "extra" wick off with it as well. I have a picture, but it is hard to see. I did circle it. Its not hard plastic, its soft like a rubber-band. Felt/looks like it could be left over from MFG. My other ITAZTE EV tank did not have anything like it. Should I pull it off? Thanks to anyone who has any ideas.

I think it prevents liquid from flooding in the chimney, only thing I can think of.

That keeps the e-liquid from going down thru the air flow tube. The air comes in from the bottom, up through the metal tube inside, flows over the coils as your heating them and picks up the vapor for you to inhale.

It's probably LDPE, not rubber, and it needs to stay

Looks like a trap, keeps fluid out of your mouth. Haven't seen one in years..
