Purchased a new mod, it is a kangertech toptank mini starter kit. I forgot to wash it before using it. I was watching a youtube video and someone was talking about making sure to wash all new atomizers (and hardware?) before using them to rid them of "machine oil"

I noticed the RBA section has a slight familiar smell that I remember getting on the old pen shaped 510 attys wayback in the day. "Primer" I think they called it...

My main concern is that there was some kind of toxins in the tank itself, the metal portions of the tank... Have I made a huge mistake here? Do the tank section of RTAs typically have toxins on them that require washing? I was impatient to vape and the thought never crossed my mind until I heard RiP talking about "machine oil" yesterday on youtube.

"Machine oil" referes to the lubricant used in machine shops, The residue of this substance is on most atomizers to some degree. It is mildy toxic, and will need to be washed off before use. A tooth brush and some dish detergent and water should do the trick, some people use an ultrasonic cleaner.
Theres nothing you can do now other than flush the tank and wash it. I would't worry too much about what you have been exposed to.

I recently purchased a new tank and ran it through my ultrasonic, I got about 3-4 drops of oil out of it. Personally I'm more concerned about inhaling a metal shaving.
There's no way you'd inhale a metal shaving. Simply too large of a particle.
