I haven't started DIYing yet, but I have been studying up on it for a bit. I do have a question that I haven't seen posted yet. On nic level of the base solution I see that many suggest to start with a low mg level and as you master the techniques then you can go up. I am looking at wizard labs pg/vg mix of 18mg which for most flavors I would make I don't mind hovering around 12 to 16 mg of the final mix. What is the advantage of working with a 100mg nic base and then cutting to the idea nic level versus buying the 18mg nic level solution and just adding the flavors to it which at 10% to 20% flavor would produce around that final nic level. May be an easy explanation, but one I am stumped on. Thanks for the help.

here are the primary advantages
1. 100mg nic is cheaper than buying the weaker strengths. You will need additional PG or VG though to cut it down. The way I do this is as soon as the stuff arrives, I mix the entire container with an equal volume of PG. I now have 2 containers of 50mg nic which is safer to work with.
2. The higher strength you start out with the more freedom you end up having with the final PG/VG ratio you want the juice at. If you always vape at the same ratio this might not be important to you. For some applications I will want a thinner juice such as for use in a carto tank with a single hole.
3. If you haven't done DIY, I do recommend you go with no more than the 48mg on your first order at least. 100mg IS dangerous if not handled properly (with gloves and eye protection). And DIY itself takes some getting use to. Download the breaktru calculator if you haven't already done so and get a good understanding of the program. Once you do that, you will be able to see for yourself what I'm talking about on the ratios.
4. Once you have some DIY basics, go ahead and get the proper safety equipment and think ahead about the dilution process and how you will do it all. Then order some 100mg and dilute as needed.

Oh and by the way, Wizard Labs is an excellent choice of DIY vendor. Ecig express is also good, but WL has the better prices.
