Hello all,
I am a new member and this is the only discussion it would let me post in. If this is the wrong place for this post....sorry.

I am trying to get oppinions on th janty ego vs the pure smokers protege.

Each has things I am happy with, but still not sure what to buy yet.

I.e. Looks like the janty ego has a button on each battery. I hear that the switch on the protege is problematic.

The protege looks like it us more versitile in the arty you can use. Also looks lime battery replacement is cheaper.

So fire away. Which do u like better and why? Help me decide!

I don't have an Ego so I can only speak about the Protege. While I have read about others problems with the switch, mine has been perfect. It now ships with a mechanical switch that has a lifetime warranty (I believe).
What I like about it is that being Stainless steel it is built like a tank. I use it daily while I'm out but switch to a HV mod at home. I find the performance of my Protege to be almost the equal of my HV mods. I don't know why but it blows away my regular 510 batteries. Also, I get about 10 hours on each batt. It feels great in my hand and I actually prefer holding it to a "cig" style PV. The Ego looks like a great PV as well so you won't go wrong either way.

I have both. I personally think the Protege is probably more versatile . . . it can be easily used with other atomizers, and the batteries wind up being pretty cheap since they're nonproprietary.

With the eGo, I've tried it with adapters to use different atomizers, but I've been less than overwhelmed with the results. I really think the battery and the cover of the eGo were designed to bring out the best in the 510 atomizer, and while you can make the battery work with other atomizers, none perform as well as the 510 on the eGo, imo.

With that said, I still prefer the eGo. The size is unbelievably small, and I can fit it in my pants pocket, something that's not easy to do with the Protege. Plus, it just looks awesome.

I don't think you could really go wrong with either one, though. While I prefer the eGo for 510 vaping, the Protege is a very nice, sleek model as well . . . and while we don't know what the eGo batteries will cost, it's a certainty that they'll be more expensive than the nonproprietary batteries that the Protege uses. That doesn't bother me overly much, though . . . the eGo batteries are awesome, and thus far, I've been able to count on 8+ hours of steady vaping using them. If I have to buy a new battery or two every three months, I can live with that . . . even if they're a bit on the expensive side. :)

I have both the Ego and the Protege also. I have a mechanical switch in my Protege and a working Protege. IMO these are 2 very different units in vaping experience also. The vape is different off each of them. The battery on the ego and the hit definitely lasts WAY longer than a 14500 battery in the Protege. The Protege is a more sturdy, built like a tank unit. If I am constantly vaping a 14500 on a Protege, 3 hours tops before I can't take it anymore and have to change the battery. The Protege vapes more powerful than a standard 510 battery, but taste is the same. The Ego vapes warmer and has a bit more flavor. The vapes are just different. The Protege has more that rough vape with a 510 and the Ego has more of a smooth vape. Personally, I'm glad I have them both.
