I wasn't going to buy the V3. Didn't even sign up for the presale this time. Didn't need another vaping device. I have two V1s and a V2. Waited while the first orders were shipped. Gave it a few days for the complaints to start rolling in. There was a strange silence on the web. So I took a chance and ordered one. It came in today. The new switch is about a bullet proof as you are going to find anywhere. Within 5 minutes of using it I was online ordering a spare along with the heavier springs. I hate to admit it but V3 is the best one yet.

I just got my V3 in the mail about 1/2 hour ago. Works great. Lots more smoke than the V2 was giving me. Very pleased with it as I was getting sick of filing down the contact ring on the V2. The contact posts on the V2 kept wearing down becoming flat and had to keep turning them. Don't have any more round edges on them and it was becoming a pain turning the switch around to try and find a good contact point so it wouldn't misfire. Not a problem with the V3 as it fires every time. The only thing I don't like about it is the switch seems really loose (I didn't order the heavy spring). I'll order the heavy spring next week when I get my paycheck and hopefully it will be even better. I didn't think I'd like the switch at the bottom but its real easy to get used to, Just use your little finger to push it in. Overall I think its a great improvement over the V2. Just don't forget to order the heavy spring when you buy it.

BrockJ, the V3 is fantastic with the 17670 batteries. I've used one in mine all day with an LR901. It's been fantastic.

I had serious reservations about the bottom button concept. But after using it, I love it.

For anyone yet to order, I highly recommend throwing the heavy spring in with your order. For only 5 bucks more, you'll have both springs. I didn't even try the light spring; I immediately switched it out for the heavy one. It's easy to press with my pinky but you can set the device on its end without having to lock it (my 2nd major reservation about the device).

Yes to the V3 but not with the V2, at least not with mine. I tried it this morning, and the 17670 wouldn't fit.

You have to use the protected 17670s with the V3 because they need the nipple top to make contact with the adapter. Here are the ones I got that work:

Edit: I just remembered that some folks on http://pure-smokers.com/forum.php were talking about the 17670s fitting in some V2s. Apparently, they had to peel the sticker off the batteries.

This is correct, the 2nd batch that was shipped with the SS contact posts in the switch was bored out just enough for the 17670 battery to fit. I bought a couple AW 17670 batteries, black batteries with the silver label. Had to peal off the label for it to fit, but it does fit.

Steve/Cassy,
I would also like to take the time to say.......

That without a doubt, you hit it right on the nose with the v3. The v3 vapes great, and the bottom button(switch) works flawlessly and you dont have to worry bout extra contact points like on the v2 and v1.

Works great, and I love the locking feature on the bottom button(switch)....All in all, a great device.

So glad to hear that, Tim! Thanks for sharing :) We certainly dig this new V3 and hope it's the end of the Prodigy line!

I'm loving my V3 as well. Excellent build quality and the switch hits every time. I personally love bottom firing switches and I like that you can completely take down the V3 switch for cleaning. I have also have a Mako and the switch cannot be easily disassembled without have to purchase a replacement retaining ring - so cleaning it when it gets gunked up is a pain the the .... I tested the V3 with Joye, SLB, Bauway, and Carto 510's - all fit/fired perfectly.

So far, my only nitpick (and I stress that this is very minor)with the V3 is this; the regular spring 'feels' just a little too light. I say 'feels' because in reality, it's doing exactly what it is designed to do - push the button away from the battery. The Heavy spring is just a little too heavy. Something in the middle would be perfect. I'm going to be hitting up my hardware store this week to see if I can find something in the middle; just strong enough to stand the V3 up on end without firing. Out of the two springs (at least for now), I prefer the regular 'light' one.
Steve and Casey - you all have out done yourselves this time. What a great PV! :toast:

There actually is a pack of springs you can get that will have a variety to choose from. Also, and maybe more important, you should be able to stretch your light spring and give it more strength and put it somewhere in the middle of what you have now. I'd probably try that first.

I just ordered my V3 yesterday and would like to have everything I might need before it arrives. If you don't mind me asking, exactly which pack of springs and where can I purchase it? Have you found the one that works great for you? Thanks.

I actually just polished the contact disc with wet 600 grit paper and Barkeeper's Friend aka Oxalic acid. That seemed to keep it from tarnishing and causing misfires. Haven't had any problems for over a month now.

Whether the Prodigy line is based on planned obsolescence or just poor engineering, well thats anyone's guess.
