Hey guys,

I'm testing out a new feature in Google docs that lets you create surveys/polls and gives you the data back in in graph/pie chart form.

I figure a comprehensive survey on e-cig usage would be useful for not only Dusty's doc but just in general. I have a load of questions up (possibly too many, I know people get bored filling out surveys) but I'm looking to see if anyone has any suggestions.

I'm not mentioning any brands so this isn't a "______ is my favourite supplier" or "______ is my favourite device" type poll but I do ask which flavour liquids people prefer using and what strengths.

To give you an idea of the types of questions I am asking..here are a few:

If you still smoke cigarettes, how many do you smoke a day?
  • 1-2
  • 3-5
  • 5-10
  • 11-20
  • 21-30
  • 31-40
  • 41+
  • less than 7 a week
  • I never smoke any cigarettes now

Have you ever tried quitting smoking with traditional pharmaceutical products?
  • Once
  • More than once
  • No, never

Which products did you try?
  • gum
  • patch
  • etc....

How successful would you rate them on a 1- 10 scale?

If you consider that you have quit tobacco products using an electronic cigarette, How easy was it to do on a 1-10 scale?

If you have switched to using an electronic cigarette instead of a traditional tobacco product, do you think you have saved money or spent more money?
  • saved
  • spent more
  • about the same

If you use electronic cigarettes as your primary nicotine delivery system, Do you think you are now more or less addicted to nicotine?
  • more
  • less
  • roughly the same

Which statement is true for you?

  • I see myself using electronic cigarettes regularly with the same nicotine level cartridges or liquid I am presently using
  • I see myself lowering my intake of nicotine using electronic cigarettes and eventually will stop using them altogether
  • I see myself lowering my intake of nicotine with electronic cigarettes and eventually will only use 'no nicotine' carts regularly
  • I see myself returning to using tradtional tobacco products and stop using electronic cigarettes
  • I see myself using electronic cigarettes and traditional tobacco products in tandem regularly
  • I see myself using electronic cigarettes and having the odd traditional tobacco product

So you get the general idea..
Anyway I'm open to suggestions so don't be shy. you can leave any suggestions here in this thread or PM me.

Thanks folks

well if you are Kate, it might have to wait. I just emailed it myself to see what it would look like that way. It shows up in a mail great, you can even answer it in your mail, but the weird thing is, the questions were put a different order to how they were originally. I can't figure it out as to whether it is a glitch or if there is something I can do about it. I'm not sure if I post it online proper if it will be fixed. I'm a bit stuck for time at the moment so I'll have a look at it when I get a chance. first time I used this feature in google docs so...

I must say though, it does give a good visual breakdown of the data in other surveys I have filled out and it gives you the results as spreadsheet data too which is handy

How many started to vape because of the info on this forum.

I stumbled across ecigs on ebay long ago, but was real leery about the claims made.
When Schip was signed I started to investigate some. Actually, I stumbled on a members (rustylug) video on you tube, which lead to this forum. I probabley would not have taken vaping (didn't know what vaping meant 8 weeks ago, now a salty dog) seriously if I hadn't seen rustylug having so much fun. This forum was the deciding factor for me.

SkullSoup, How about:

What motivated you to buy an electronic cigarette (multiple choice)

* It seemed like a healthier option
* It seemed like I would save money
* I wanted to quit smoking
* I wanted to quit nicotine
* I tried my friend's and I liked it
* I read a pieace on them and they looked interesting
* I saw them being talked about online and wanted to try it
* Online videos (Youtube etc)
* I saw them for sale in online market places
* I saw them on a TV show and they looked interesting.
* I saw them on an infomercial.
* I heard them being discussed on the radio
* I saw them being used at a casino / bar

I think this is a fantastic idea and I can't wait to see all of this info in one place. You have so much good info already covered . What changes have you noticed in your health?(better breathing, less or no cough, more energy, increased exercise, ect). Another idea would be, if you've seen your doctor or had any medical testing since you started vaping, were any changes noted? I just saw my doc on this week and my cholesterol is lower, bloodwork is great, ect.
Thanks
Stephanie

Thanks for the input steph. I have a list of all the symptoms people have mentioned on the forum that they can check off in the survey and also this question:

Have you noticed....
  • Sinuses clearing up
  • Smoker's cough disappearing
  • Deeper clearer breathing
  • Chest loosening
  • better sense of smell
  • more energy
  • lower cholesterol
  • improved bloodwork
  • Other __________

I added your suggestions to it..if you can think of anymore, let me know. The survey is pretty much ready to go only for a google bug that annoyingly re-ordered the questions. I sent it to kate to proof read but...

So if you're reading this Kate please drop me a line at "info at e-cignews.c0m" if your still up to the task (go raibh céad míle maith agat ;))

Thank You! Do you think it would be helpful to ask how we all carry/store our supplies(to show that many of us are very careful and safe around children/pets). Like I have all of my stuff in a drawyer up high, and carry my ecig around in a zippered bag with child proof cap for example. One of the arguments against ecigs has been around safety issues. Maybe this would influence all distributors to step up a bit.

Didn't think of that one specifically. I do have a question titled:
What do you not like about the majority of the electronic cigarettes that are on the market currently?

and one of the options is:
  • A child or a pet could easily swallow some of the solution

How about one..

Would you like liquid and cartridges to better secured to prevent accidently ingestion by children or pets?
  • yes
  • no

Sounds perfect. It is a legitimate concern. Thank you so much for putting this together. It's a lot of work for you,but is going to be such a great source of info.
