PV upgrade advice

Firstly, a little back story

I'm relatively new to the vaping scene, and have only been at it for about two weeks now. I am proud to say in this time I haven't touched a conventional cigarette. Anyhow, I run a simple kr808d set up with standard cartomizers, and I've been wanting a beefier unit to enjoy my growing flavor library. Dripping sounds a lot easier, at least when trying to discern different flavors really quickly.

I like the concept of my kr808d being my stealthy unit, for use when I'm on foot. Being a college student in Boone NC, a town notorious for ......... and over zealous cops, I'd rather walk the safe side of the street with a faux cigarette than some goose-necked monstrosity that could very well be mistaken for something illicit.

The home environment is something entirely different. I want a unit that will produce heavier vapor than my little kr can produce, as well as consistent performance and extended battery life.

Anyway, my question is this:

Does anyone have a favorite setup that doesn't require too much fiddling? I've been looking at 510's and watching GrimmGreen videos like a fiend, all in the hopes of doing my homework as one should.

Any help you could give me to point me in right direction would be greatly appreciated.

My fav set up is my Hog mod (it's a wooden bottom feeder) with the 4.9v batts from madvapes and a LR attomiser.

I like the Silver Bullet from Altsmokes or the GLV from Great Lakes Vapor.Both are sturdy well built mods that will last.They both come in 510 but you can get an adapter to use your 808s and that will also work with 901 attys.

My favorite set up:
1. My Provari with any kind of cartos. Although i prefer Boge standards, Boge LR 2ohms, and Smoktech dual-coils. 5-6 volt with standard resistance cartos, 4 volt with Boge LR or dual-coils.
2. My Reo Grand with 306 LR 1.5ohm atty.

...the Riva 510 lite bundle from Liberty-Flights is an inexpensive kit for 30bux(20%discount button on top left of their page)...batts are 3.7v and last 6+hrs...next is the KGO from Hoosierecigsupply for 42bux, it is a 3.7-4.2v unit with around 10+hr batts...for the same price from the same vendor is the E-Power with replaceable non-proprietary batts(cheaper to replace batts) with 10+hr life...from there, you step upto the RoughStak from MadVapes in the 70bux range for the kit and then a big step to the GLV from GreatLakesVaping...cost a Franklin+ and in that range their are a number of impressive mods...and of course there are box mods, both fixed and variable voltage that start around 30 bux and go upto around 150 for REOs...and at the top are the ProVari and Darwin in the 250range...so there is a quick look at options........

I used 808 for half a year, Riva 510 (fat battery, like ego) for a couple months, ended up going to variable voltage devices from notcigs, the last 7 plus months. I happen to like higher variable voltage a lot. My Infinity and Buzz Pro each have 808 connectors, run a good length of time between battery swaps (pretty much all day on one battery set, running through about 6 ml of eliquid/day -- I use about 2X the eliquid as I did on either 808 or 510, but it's worth it for a really nice vape). They are trivial to use -- there is a simple wheel on the side, just rotate it to get the voltage that tastes best for the particular carto/atty and liquid you are using; I prefer 3 ohm cartos with them, gets the longest run time, but you can use all the way down to about 1.5 ohms at up to about 4.7 volts.

The new Infinity Pro should be super, based on my prior two notcigs PVs, would run you about $120 with two pairs of batteries and a charger, using their standard "ECF Buzzkill" coupon code. You can get it with different topcaps (pick which connector style you want -- I prefer 808, since it is a beefier connection than 510).

If the price point is too high for you, but you want to branch out, experiment, the Riva 510 Lite kit from libertyflights is solid, at $30 after using their promo code "october20" (it's been the same code since last Fall). That gets you two batteries, a 2.2 ohm atty, some empty carts, a cone. Add a drip tip and have fun

While you are looking at mods and deciding, you might want to try a Riva 510 Lite bundle for $29.95. You will get much better battery life and an adapter will let you use KR808 attys. It's a 3.7v device that gives you a little better hit than Ego batteries. Order a 306 atomizer with a drip tip and you will be in dripping heaven. The 306 is the favorite of Don at Backwoods Brew. He says that the 306 is his test atty for juices.

IMHO, the best discrete method for public vaping would be any mini juice box mod that you can conceal in the palm of your hand and you don't have to keep changing out carts or dripping. And with a straight PG mix, you won't give away your position.

The best performing PV's are your higher end variable volt models such as the Darwin or the Provari. But if you don't want to spend that much money, then I would suggest a good 5 volt model, such as the 5 volt GLV2 that was already mentioned. If that is still too pricey, then look at one of Ken's 5 volt box mods. All of these will provided warmer vapor, more consistency and much better battery life than you currently have:

...the batts are under 10 bux and the charger is around 15+-...they last longer and live longer...plus variable voltage will allow you to dial in the best flavor possible from your gear and juice...I don't own one but, a VV box mod is at the top of my list for my next upgrade................

The batteries are the same as used in the 5 volt box mod. They will run $4 - $5 each. The only problem with these is they are not nearly as easy to change the voltage setting as you really need to carry the screwdriver to change the setting. And they are not regulated or have a boost circuit as the higher end ones do. Without a regulated boost circuit, as the battery drains, so does the power and performance. It's simply a trade off between price and performance. But it is a much less expense method to give VV a try.

I was an Ego user for a couple of months. It worked very well and helped me to decide if I liked vaping.
I have since upgraded to a Provari (love it) and a liquinator tank and find it the best setup. I use boge cartos.
I wanted the most trouble free and low maintanence setup I could find.

the GLV is a fantastic device...bullet proof...it is VV only in that it will take differing batt setups, it doesn't have rheostat built in, to dial up voltage the way a Buzz or Provari or Darwin or even little cheapie box mods do...dripping Vs cartos are a personal preference...I don't like dripping, too fiddly for me and haven't enjoyed it BUT, maybe I just haven't tried a real good atty yet
