I don't know why this thread would be in danger of being shut down. People are asking reasonable questions about an APV that's not on the market yet. Also it's being made in China. While China is perfectly capable of making quality products, much of the vaping gear made in China has had QC issues. So, I for one, would want to proceed with this new product with caution. I don't think that would be unreasonable.

The ECF forum is being used to push this mod so any questions asked by ECF members shouldn't be considered a "silly little game" nor a "waste of my time". If you don't have the answer asked for this mod you want to push on here then say so instead of belittling the question. This guy Peg was able to do a long rant about shekinahsgroom but he can't take to time to answer questions that have been asked? I know and you know he monitors the forum because he said he was following the previous thread before it got closed. It's time he stepped up to the plate and answers legitimate questions or is he too busy counting the money coming in to be bothered?

I mean the 510 is "pretty much the same thing" right, because China isn't known for their 1:1 clones.

Sigh, yet again.

OldTimeRocker in the other thread said:
As you may or may not know the FDV 510 was designed by craig over on the braketru forum. If i remember the story right Craig gave the plan up. Put the plans into opensource and worked with FDV to get them manufactured in china another piece of china junk but this junk every one wants. So until they are in the FDV baggy they are not a FDV 510. It's just the same supplier sure looks the same to me, guess you would need to get the supplier from FDV to be 100% sure. Sure FDV wont have any problem giving that up......oh wait. but go ahead call Peg a lier about it, not the first time.

This is totally fair but kind of unreasonable, . Like what Ed asked, totally awesome question, got a totally awesome answer, that's how it should work and I hope it continues to go this way.

Like this: Randy, the internals aren't shown because there is no product yet. The pics are design photos and we are trusting the designer and manufacturer to deliver spec'd internals as we think IVOGO is a quality manufacturer with consistent quality.

all i'm saying is i don't have all the answers, e-mail Peg with your questions, he's not that hard to get hold of. instead of telling everyone else to question Peg, question him yourself. instead people get on here belittling everyone that has had anything to do with this project. it was set at a $28000 goal and has almost doubled that. so what is the problem? i did my research before putting my money in, ecf is not the place to get the answers or even post the questions

IMHO this is unreasonable. The thread has a title; obviously if you choose to enter the thread you "pushed" the subject on yourself. Is it even possible to consider otherwise? No, its not. Look at the past threads, the mod intervention who's posts have been deleted and edited and for what reasons...the mods are on this and if anything was being "pushed" that's their call to make.

OK, I've apparently missed something, as I thought this was more or less the reason for the existence of ECF. I personally would not email Peg, as I'm not currently in the market for a new APV and I would feel like I was being rude, if I was taking up his time. On the other hand, I do think this project is interesting and I would like to learn a bit more about it. That is why I looked into this thread.

LOL the tl;dr or watch is the mod is being made to specs all the subs of the YT channel agreed on except the usb charger and the price was agreed to be the lowest possible for this first run to the subs and anyone getting in on the igg fundraiser. The reason the box is being put together in china is cost as well. I'm sure we could have assembled and/or mfg in the US but the point was not to have Flask pricing while retaining a genuine DNA40 chip.

If you click the vid I posted earlier the whole project is on the channel:)

if you have so many questions, why don't you ask Peg yourself? he's not that hard to get hold of. i e-mail him all the time when i have a question, and he always gets back to me. but that's not the point is it??? no you will not be happy until the moderator shuts this thread down like some of the others. so i will leave it with you so you can play your silly little game. you have already wasted enough of my time
P.S. there's constructive criticism and then there's you

Because here the questions and answers cannot be filtered by the parties involved. If he says here he is going to do something, it will be here for reference if that doesn't happen (or at least a screenshot will be). The last thing I want is this thread shut down, I want people to see the possible train wreck they might be getting themselves into.

Well there was no product when the outside was decided either. Why wasn't at least one video dedicated to what would be done on the inside? Ivogo hasn't done regulated mods, at least none I could find, all the products I have seen are mech and RDA clones. The may be good at milling metal, but can they properly wire a device?

Dna40 has more than just reverse battery protection. It also senses battery limits.

The DNA chip will not protect you if one battery is correct and the other is upside down. The device needs to have that built in between the batteries.

Who requested that video? IDK if they can wire a device but here's one with their name on it that looks like the screen at least works jeez...

Thanks man I honestly didn't know that and wont try to put my batts in series on any DNA40 device now, thanks again. So what happens when you try to stack batts in a DNA40 then?

And where exactly can you buy a Ivogo Zero clone?

What DNA device do you know of that stacks 18650 batteries?

From IVOGO of course.

None, the chips aren't made for a stack and the 40 is the first with reverse batt protection...dude I'm just trying to follow what you're saying here:

The DNA chip will not protect you if one battery is correct and the other is upside down. The device needs to have that built in between the batteries.

Since we know the DNA is spec'd for parallel we know if one batt is "upside down" we just stacked them. Like dude, if we were talking about an IPV3 if we put one batt "upside down" we would be in a parallel config. Fair enough?

You suggest the PVA needs a fuse between the batts I assume but the ship for suggestions on the mod sailed long ago as you well know so I am confused.

I genuinely am seeking your expert insight as to what happens if batts are stacked on the DNA40 with no protection between the batts so please enlighten us as you are the one that brought it into the discussion, that's only fair.

Well it wouldnt technically be a stacked/series setup as one side of the battery holder isnt circuit linked.
Putting a battery upside down in a IPV3 wouldnt put it in parallel since it IS circuit linked, so it would short the board (well its protected so it wouldnt, but itd try)
Either way, im fairly sure the DNA40 is protected in the scenario described.

You create a short between the two batteries. Read this starting at post#2224, and read post #2231

Also, Ivogo has a website to buy equipment from? Link please.

Good stuff I read your link Randy that's crazy hopefully the new chips wont do that. I wasn't planning on putting the batts in wrong but I will be extra careful now.

Not an expert but on DNA40 datasheets clearly stated max input voltage 4.3v so stacking prolly fry the board.
