I am looking to try out a PWM mod. I'm not really looking to drop a whole lot on it, as this is just me looking to get my foot in the door with this style of mod, so my budget is not huge just to try one out. Anyone have any ideas where I should start? It would be nice to be able to fit a 30mm on it, but that isn't really required.

I have looked at the Tesla invader 2 and the Wismec Luxotic NC in person at my local shop today, they both seemed nice but I didn't want to jump into anything without weighing my options first.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I can't seem to find a noisy cricket 2 in anything but silver. I'm not a fan of shiny stuff or the color silver. If I cannot find something else that compares, I may still get it and try painting it with bed liner, but would rather not have to put that kinda work into a brand new mod.

So, for now, the search continues.....

I work on cars and equipment a lot, I get greasy residue on my mods. Staining up a raw metal finish with grease and all the other stuff I get into just makes a mod look terrible. It is not even noticeable on my dark colored mods. Same thing with silicone cases, they tend to absorb the grease and stain up real fast.

This is why I don't want to take my squonk boxes with me when I'm working on stuff, and want a PWM, preferably one that can fit my 30mm Vaperz Cloud VCST. That way I don't need to refill all the time or have to drip every time I want a vape.

Hmmm... this sounds like an even better reason for a silicone case. Buy two. Keep one at work. Let it get filthy. There’s nothing to stop it anyway. Then change the case when you change your clothes. You can even put the empty case in a parts washer. It’s silicone after all.

Think more shade tree and less garage. I work from the back of my truck. Most of the time I'm working in someone's driveway on their car, or out in a field on a hay bailer or whatever piece of equipment it is that day.

While I like the idea, and if I cannot find something else will probably use that idea, I was hoping I could just change my mod when I change my clothes. Go back to my squonkers when not working.

After some research, it seems the Tesla invader line, the noisy cricket, and the luxotic nc are all dc-dc converter variable voltage devices, and not PWMs. Pretty much shot down all of my options that are not custom built mods. Looks like I will have to go find a kit (or put one together) and give building one a shot if I plan to stay under $100.

That is still a VV device and not a true PWM. The potentiometer on that controls the voltage, and not the frequency of the pulse of energy to the Atty.
Or get a NC1. When it gets dirty just wash it in the sink with Dettol and a wire brush.
I have mechs, I am looking to explore new (to me) styles of devices.

Thank you both for the suggestions, but there is really no ready made options available on the market that I could simply order from a retailer, it seems that I would have to drop ~$200 on a custom built box, or build it myself.

I say go with the NC2. I don't want to make presumptions about your income, but at 26 dollars you may be able to just buy a new one when it becomes unbearable dirty. Put it in the context of a pack of smokes.

If it were an actual PWM, I would. But it is not a PWM, it is a variable voltage DC-DC converter device. It does not have a PWM chip in it and does not pulse the energy to the atomizer.

Edit- For future reference, my budget for this purchase is currently $100 for those that may be wondering

I'm about to be little to no help, but it might give you a place to start.

Most PWM's are modded, so the ones your finding for sale are somewhat specialty items, or very short production runs from what I can see. You can either keep your eyes peeled for a used one to show up in your price range, or maybe call these people.

I know you said below a hundred, but these seem to be priced at 125.00.. you can call the people who make them and see if they can't do exactly what your looking for with in your price range..

You never know until you ask..

Very much appreciated. I will see what they can do. Next week my spending limit should be increased so that I can afford one that has all the features I am looking for without compromise.
