Do the USB passthroughs need to be plugged in upon receipt and charged, then put away? Or, can they be safely put away for years and then pulled out and plugged in?

How should one best handle long term storage?

hi ya,

It sounds to me your stocking & not using it now, if thats the case be sure to test it (try it out) before putting it away. Yes u can store them & use them later, but in a few years they will probably just be old relics....

USB PT with Batt Style PT? I think u mean just USB Pass Throughs (PT) non-batt? . Please update so we can address the question better if needed.

If you want to store just a standard USB PT (no batt), just clean it & store it in a dry zip lock bag, try to get the air out and store it in a dry place, with no temp changes its no big deal. You can just put it in any drawer or closet dry location as well.

If you have a USB PT with Batt, same as above but remove the Batt and store the batt with the specific manufacturers standard Batt storing procedure if there is one, if not no big deal. Some lithium Batts do prefer or reccomend to store with a certain amount of charge or partial charge. Its not really necessary as far as I am concerned but You can just charge the Batt for 15 to 20 minutes and take it off the charger, be sure they are clean and store it in clean dry zip bag. Its better to usually store batts in a cool dry place (drawer or closet it fine). I do not like the refrigerator methods due to the defrost cycle can cause moisture & condensation, so that will ruin the Batt.

I Hope thats what you were wanting to here, if not please repost for more info or help :D

I am battery and modder challanged, so I took a picture to show you what I want to store.

Yes, I would be stocking and not using. Gave nephew the penstyle like this and he is not vaping yet. Also, have some 103's and due to China order making it through customs (arrived this morning) and buying one from a forum member, have extras of the 901's

I don't know how to disconnect the battery. Do I need to do that? After say 3yrs. in storage would these work if plugged in? Do they need to be kept "charged" like once every other month to be alive when they are needed? Are they limited to the 300 charges, too?

I posted in a thread a few days ago and the Kensington model seemed to be the winner. Give me a sec and I'll come back and edit and give you both links.

Here's the thread link: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...acell-rechargeable-battery-w-passthrough.html

Here's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...t_shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance

I ordered and got mine is like 2 days and it works for a very long time and gives me lots of vapor with the DSE 901s that I use.

Ooops! Your question is a totally different animal than what I thought it was. Message Cell or one of the pro's. They have to examine the spec.'s to be able to tell you.

Monk,

Thats looks Like Just A Standard USB PT, No Battery, Just Store it in a zip lock bag and put it away. They will last there till a nuclear blast LOL!!

As for the batts just put them away after you give them a quick test (optional but suggested) to make sure there are no DOA's, any iffy ones leave those out, charge them fully and re-test.

Don't worry about all the charging & how long they last. You will probably use those up as your current batts die, cuz we know they don't last long anyways.

When u take them out of storage for use, then do the full charging.

hope that helps. :D

Thanks Monkey. Is your passthrough the kind that has a battery?
I clicked on the other link and was reading that the passthrough has to have a battery inside it?
PTJD_thanks Also for the link
