How long till it shuts off? There was a thread here a couple of days ago that discussed different manufactures had different cut-off times. I think it was something like 5 seconds vs 8 seconds.

Saw'em and I think I remember they were about auto-on batteries. I don't see why manual battery needs auto-off in the first place. My first guess is that the manual switch is a mod to an auto-on battery :(

The problem is, we have too many people jumping in saying "Buy this" and "Buy that". Research is the only answer. I don't recommend anymore, however I'm happy to help get someones e-cig up and running if the need arises.

Is a 5 to 8 second cutoff that bad? That seems like an awful long drag to me.(IMO)

Well, I know this is going to sound like a "duh-uh" to most folks, but one thing I finally figured out is that I could continue to inhale even after I let the button up. So, for example, press the button for 5 seconds, and if you don't feel you're done, continue to inhale. The atomizer will still be hot for a few seconds after you let up on the button.

I've been trying new ecig techniques for a month. If yet another complicated technique is required to vape with a 901 manual battery, I think I'll pass :)

BTW, I'm not sure everyone remembers my original complaint: The MANUAL battery for the DSE 901.

I had the same impression wdave. wtf. Why the cutoff on the manual batts or the manual passthroughs for that matter.

Not an issue for me any longer. I've found that with everything properly "in tune", a 4sec hit is all I need. Regardless atomizer being used, if I can't get a decent hit with a 4sec draw then I need to adjust something. Charge the battery, blow out the atty, new cart filler, something.

Can't say why I settled on 4sec, just did. But it has proved to be a good way for me to perfect the 'art' of vaping. As time goes by I find myself achieving a staisfactory hit at 4sec with less and less 'fiddling'.

Sorry I wasn't clearer . . . yes, I agree it's a bad design to have so short of a cut-off with a manual battery. :)

However, my point was that while it may seem short, it may be that if you continue to inhale just a second or two past the cut-off, you might just feel like you've got enough. Much more than a second or two beyond the cut-off, though, and you're sucking air, which diminishes the entire experience.

In any event, bad design . . . just thought I'd throw that out as a possible work-around. :)

Only problem I have, with both the passthrough and manual, is the button falling off. lol. Guess I am a little rough with it. Lucky, I haven't lost one yet.

Yeah I'm always concerned about how long parts will last. I'm using 901's with a 901 passthru in my car, just because the passthru looks a lot less complicated than the 510 passthru, so possibly more reliable. I got the manual switch/sealed dummy battery so it might withstand me dunking it in spilled coffee :)

As a safety feature, it is good to have a shutoff on the automatic imo. It should just be longer! I have a really sensitive 801 and left it on my dashboard, didnt think about it, but was in the jeep with the top down....it did a constant on/off for about 20 min till I noticed...the whole thing might have been glowing by that time, could barely touch it....it could have been much worse if there was no shut off in between. Just think if you left one on a couch or seat or bed, and your teens are playing the music that shakes the whole house (or you, or whatever!) that might turn it on!
All manuf should have a standard shut off time. Maybe 10 secs or so.
It could be bad with a manual, if it gets stuck with the button down in your purse or in the couch cushions, in your pocket, etc.

My experience...an automatic battery for one brand of ecig locked up with the heat on. While I was driving. I heard other auto-batts have been known to do it too. So far I haven't had any lock-ons with the DSE901 auto-batt. But I realize I'm taking a risk.

if it cuts off in 5 seconds..thats borderline IMHO. if it cuts off in 8 seconds, i'll take 10. I hit the cutoff on my 901 auto bat all the time damn you 5 second cutoff *shakes fist*

if it's 8 seconds, it's a plenty unless youre tryin to burn clean an atty. Surely no one would suck on a 901 8 seconds (minus like a second preheat) and *not* get a mouthful...remember the 901 isnt paying you for duration.

My manual 901 batteries and passthroughs from Heaven Gifts have 8 second cutoffs. I never hit the cutoff, probably taking 4 to 5 second draws.

I have found though, that matte black atomizers and whistle tip carts are the way to go for them. They have an easier draw than round carts, and for some reason the matte black atomizers do too. Otherwise the draw is too hard, and the 8 second cutoff might be a problem.
