I had to purchase my tanks :) I am not that good with tools :( Be my luck, I would end up messing up a whole box of cartos just to make the holes, lol :)

How is everyone???? What are you vaping today???? Did you start your Christmas shopping yet???? September is almost over and October is right around the corner :) Grab your Foxy Box Mods, grab a few extra batteries or maybe even a charger :) Maybe get them specailly painted for your best friend or girlfriend/boyfriend :) Whatever the case may be, they are very inexpensive and with the way the economy is now.... hmmmmm, ya just should grab whatever you need or send something to a friend that needs to quit analogs :) Give the very best this Christmas, with FBMs :)
Now we continue with our regular programming....
Hugs,

I would imagine that not all stripping pliers are made equally. I know you have to be careful not to damage the coil or wire that runs inside the carto. A punched carto I have heard is better since it does not leave metal shavings, whereas using the dremel can leave some dust inside the carto. But I have to imagine that punching the cartos carries a greater risk of damage. Heck I dont know, anyone else want to chime in?

All orders from today are packaged up and tracking has been sent. I have black and white 3.7 and 5v mods ready to ship.

It looks like I reached my maximum traffic for the month, and I am too cheap to upgrade. And I am too lazy to toggle my signature to my second site, which is also not is nice (not saying much is it)

Anyway, if anyone wants to see my other site, vist Foxy Box Mods at myboxmods.com - Home

Cheers

many ways do do it now. I use the dremmel, but not all the way through the metal of the carto. Just dremmel down until the metal looks thin, or it doesnt really have to be that thin. Wipe off any shavings, then punch with a hammer/nail. This way, the area that you shaved off will hold the nail in place better and no shavings go inside the filler because you didn't dremmel all the way through. I also use an incense holder to steady the carto. Be very careful when you punch your hole, not to go too far into the filler or else you will end up with gurgling and/or a slow leak. The nail you use is important too, I don't know the proper terminology, but basically it should go from a point and then as close to 45 degree angle you can find to the nail post/rod(?). Like this (good nail to use on the left/ the nail on the right will punch too small of a hole or go too far into the carto):

I know my nail is rusty and gross, but hopefully you can see the wide angle.
Hold a carto up to the bottom cap of your tank, equivalent to where it would go in the tank and mark with a sharpie 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch above the top of the end cap. Dremmel and/ or punch there. For thin juice just tap the nail through lightly, for thicker juice tap the hole larger 2 or 3 times (hold just above the tip of the nail with your thumb and index finger). The consensus of a good size punch seems to be about 3/32 of an inch. I learned by trial and error and basically eyeball it. Most juice is good with two punches this size on opposite sides. Again, try not to go too deep. Once I've made my initial punch, I will even turn the carto slightly and make the punch larger at an angle to avoid puncturing the center.

mark slightly above the bottom cap of your tank...

dremmel notches where you marked to prevent the nail from slipping around and make punching easier(optional)...

hold above the tip of the nail, use something to keep the carto from rolling, tap into the spot you notched...

after lightly tapping a few more times you will have a punch like this on both sides, good for thick juice. Use a smaller punch for thinner juices. Sorry about the cheesy pics and good luck. There is a jig and punch set available somewhere( ask around) and also a new thread where someone had some luck with wire cutters( I'll look for that link)

hey bp, when you fill your jtank, do you take the top piece of the tank, or do you fill with the jtank assembled? Thanks for the great tutorial. I think there are many here who will appreciate this, including myself. Now I have to see if I can find some stainless cartos around....

For the tank that I have, The top cap must be removed completely to fill. Very important for my tank and probably others is to not create air pressure when putting the top cap on. One way or another you need to make sure you are displacing air rather than juice when the top is put on or else you will have flooding/ slow leak. Depends on the tank. Some people are drilling holes in the side of their tanks as fill ports but I don't like the way it looks or find it necessary. I have wasted a bunch of cartos, but I'm straight pro now. nevermind with the wire cutter, I found it here duh.

I filled mine a few times by taking the top cap off completely. I guess I got lucky and did not build up air pressure, although now that you bring it up, not sure how I avoided it. I presume when you say it can leak, its at the base between the carto and the bottom delrin piece.

I'll just specify further..for my tank you need to put the cap on partially (up to the o-ring), then flip the tank upside down so that only air is surrounding the punch, with the juice below. then push the cap all the way on. For this tank the top cap fits into the top of the carto, so pressure may be more of an issue than with other tanks.

Bowling league tonight. I hope I bowl as well tonight as I did last week. Last week I bowled 219, 181, and 197 for a total series of 597 with an open tenth frame in two of my games. (I have never bowled a 600 series, so close!)

Anyway, back to mods.

Any orders will be responded to when I get home tonight, but if your orders are clear, and paypal email address given, I will invoice you when I return, and I will get your mod build and packaged tonight. I will look for payment in the morning, and ship tomorrow. My availability listed yesterday is still valid.

Cheers

Greetings all. First time posting on this thread so I just wanted to say hello to everyone.

I have one of Steve's vv fbm and I absolutely love it. If you're on the fence about picking one up.. do it.. don't think about it.. just do it! :)

Thank god I got 2 spare batteries with the vv fbm. Did you know that it takes 2 hour, 56 minutes and 37 seconds to charge batteries?

Hey Steve, ever thought about replacing the black button with a big red button? I don't know what it is but I love pressing big red buttons.. especially if they have a label that says "Do Not Press". Maybe you can create some for a special 'Christmas' special edition :)

btw.. 5v with the boge 3.0 ohm carto and warm sugar cookie ejuice that came with the kit..just wow.

Had to think about that one for a sec. I had my mind on buttons and mods, and thought, oh crap, did I promise a new mod?

LOL, ok, no, I did not but we bowled well and won 3 of 4 games. Still, we are only 5 games back from 1st place, and there are like 30 more weeks left. Plenty of time. I bowled a 214, 194 and a lousy 147. Thanks for asking!

bp420,

I've been trying to get a map tank to work with my beloved vv fbm but it hasn't gone very well. Someone made a great suggestion to me on another thread and I wanted to pass that along here since some folks here may venture into tank mods.

If you receive cartos with punched holes or if you make your own holes and they are too big then grab one of your carto condoms and cut the bottom out. Now you have the perfect size sleeve that can cover part of the hole.

It ain't pretty and I don't know of anyone else is trying this so its't not proven to work.. but it beats throwing out a perfectly good carto in the trash.
