quality concerns

As of late I have been having some issues with the quality and consistency of the products I've been receiving from Halo. I just got a couple of new batteries that don't work with my older tanks the older tanks short out the battery yet they dont short out my older batteries. The older tanks also produce a much thicker flavorful vape than the new tanks I bought. There are visible difference in the tanks so I don't know if it has to do with Halo using a different supplier or what but this inconsistency is making me a very unhappy customer which is really unfortunate since I had been quite happy with my purchase of the Triton until late.

It's the same supplier (pretty sure).

So you've got two problems:
1) old tanks short the new battery
and
2) you get less vapor from the new tanks

#1 need more info: does the new battery light blink when you try it with the old tank? Is the center post on (under) your old tanks perfectly centered?

#2 that's actually normal (but can be fixed).

The vapor production depends (among other things) on the wicks, and the placement of the sleeve over the coil. Try loosening the sleeve a bit (although usually we have to do the opposite; new coils are normally loose, and leak).

Also, the juice itself can be a factor, even the same juice, but from a different bottle. Did you use the same juice from the same bottle?

There's also an odd chance that something is wrong with the coil. If you do a dry burn, the whole coil should light up, like this:
(actually, that coil was shorting out, in the middle, and died shortly after I took that pic)
dry burn.jpg
(Do it only on a dry wick, but don't do it for more than 2-3 seconds)

If only part of the coil lights up, then the coil is bunched up, causing it to short out on itself, or it's touching the side of the coil assembly. You can work the coil over, but do it gently; it's a bit fragile.

If you have a meter, you can measure the resistance of the coil; it should read 2.2 - 2.4 ohm. If not, it's either the wrong coil, or something's wrong with it.

The same tank will work fine on an old battery but as soon as I switch to the new battery I bought they short out the battery and the indicator light on the battery goes out and the battery will not come back on until you attach it to a charger. The coil remains fine I can then take it off attach it again to one of the older batteries and it works great in fact it works better than do the new tanks I bought regardless of what battery they are on. I even tried replacing the coil in a brand new tank to see if it made a difference still resulting in poorer vapor production than I've become accustomed to however the new tanks dont short out the new batteries.

I have four of these tanks that Ive bought over the last few months all of them short out the new batteries yet work great with the older ones. All the liquid has come from the same bottle I really dont see how it could be a coil problem. I have now had this problem with a total of 5 new batteries I have purchased in the last month, two of which I returned, one I rewired using a head piece from a burnt out halo battery and that now works great and never shorts out. All the liquid has also come from the same bottle.

Sorry you are having troubles. When did you purchase the old gear?

Very odd. If I take one of my 650mAh batteries, short it out with something, the light blinks when I press it. But works normally as soon as I remove the short. No need for me to put it back on the charger.

I'd like to see a pic of the heads of the new vs old batteries, as well as the underside of the 2 different tanks. This product isn't that old in the market, released around April?

Are the voltages the same? are the 2 tanks resistance the same? Old coils can change their resistance.

I'd contact Halo Customer Service, (or throw a kind PM to Cinder Ella.) The batteries are warrantied for 60 days, IIRC.

In most cases I've heard about, Halo makes it right.

Different juices produce different amounts of vapor during the life of one tank. For instance Belgian Cocoa tastes fresh and amazing at first, then halfway through the tank it loses that sweetness. I clean the wick after ever tank full of it. Have you made sure there is no liquid in the battery shorting it?

Nah there is no liquid in the batteries. Four tanks all do the same thing with the new batteries the center post design is different on the new tanks slightly compared to the old tanks and for some reason they are not compatible. I am aware of the change of flavor I've been vaping for a while now but thank you for the advice.

So sorry this is happening to you.

I know how frustrating it is because I just had the two 650mah batteries from my original Triton kit quit after 1 1/2 months of use.

Took Halo awhile to get a message back to me, but they told me to mail the batteries back to them and they will replace them.

Cinder ella is also sending me a juice freebie because of this.

Let me know what CS is going to do for you.

I love my Triton so I hope Halo isn't having issues.

Well there not doing anything for me. Which sucks I have four tanks that for some reason dont work with my new batteries. I am rather surprised that Im the only person having this issue where I have 4 tanks that have all not worked and I've tried five new batteries with the same result. Yet they work just fine on the older batteries I have. The new tanks I bought dont work as well as my older ones. Halo CS says they havent been changed but there are visible differences in some of the components and for reasons I dont understand they arent working as well. Very frustrated and thinking about switching to another e cig any suggestions

I asked once. I'll ask again. When did you buy the old tanks? I'll assume we are talking about the 2.4ml Tritons with a Triton Battery. And all purchased from Halo, and not a B&M? What kind of old batteries do you have that work? 400, 650, 1300, VV? And what new batteries do you have?

Also, all the Triton batteries blink 3 times, pause, blink 3 times during a short. As soon as the short is removed, the batteries work fine. "the indicator light on the battery goes out and the battery will not come back on until you attach it to a charger." What you described I cannot duplicate with a short. On either the 650mAh batts or the 900mAh VV. There are just 2 conductors on the tank and 2 conductors on the battery. They either make a connection, don't make a connection, or connect to the wrong part, ie., a short. Measure the bottom button on the tanks. (use a drinking straw to gauge.) Are they the same diameter? are they both perfectly concentric? Do the same with the old vs new batteries. If you are seeing a difference, take a pic of them. I'd like to see, and try to solve your problem.

As to the quality of the vape. This is not tank dependent. It is all about the heads. Coil, wick, rubber sleeve. Are you saying a new head on an old tank is fine, but a new head on the new tank isn't? And if it's only the old heads that produce a good vape, then that is an answer. The ohms have changed. You might have an old head at 1.8 ohms, and the new battery just won't fire it, as the battery perceives too much current. and the old batteries might accept that current, and fire, resulting in a hotter coil with the vape you like.

I have a head with the opposite problem. It meters 3.4ohms, but was 2.2 when I got it. Are the wicks different? Again, a pic is worth a lot.

Looking forward to try and help. If the performance of the new tank isn't to your liking, then I suggest a VV, so you can dial in the power that gives you the vape you like.

the center post on the new tanks seems a little smaller in diameter if any its not much at first looking at it I thought it was longer as well but under closer inspection I think its an optical delusion. Im using the same coils in both old and new tanks at least from the same package. On the batteries the center post is visibly smaller than on the new batteries. As far as the batteries shorting out I dont know what else to call it maybe I should say they turn off and will not come back on unless attached to the charger. The head peice I changed was the actual head peice to a battery I unwired it wired a new battery to an old battery button peice and magic the battery works just like my older ones with the other tanks. When I say old the tanks maybe only a few months old.The batteries are a 900 and two 450s. I think I may just have to try another VV I did like my last one but in a carpenters pocket is no place for a long rig like that (she broke). I really appreciate the help I'll see if I cant supply some pictures later
