I know where you are coming from...but think for a second, all those smokes you smoke(d)...do you think that all the tobacco was sifted through by some carefull chap with laser eyes?

I bet us smokers have inhaled all sorts of disgusting unpleasant stuff.8-o

You can can "western made" e-liquid if you are really concerned though, I've just got some "Eco Pure" that is made in the UK (and made from UK ingredients), I know there are several American e-liquid makers as well.

The chances that there's anything worse in eliquid than there is in an analog cig are pretty, pretty slim. But I would never have thought there would end up being melamine in dog food either. :( I guess for that reason, I might choose a known name for the actual nic fluid -- one that lists its ingredients and complies with *some* sort of recognized standards, if possible. Maybe Ecopure? Then I'd mix it myself from vg and flavorings. I guess that's the best choice I can think of.

Of course, right now, I'm using prefilled carts, and who knows where the stuff in them comes from.

All this makes me laugh a bit at myself since I smoked a pack a day of Marlboro Lights for 20 years. I *knew* those things were packed with a million poisons.

But again, it's that melamine image that haunts me.

Funnily enough, I've just posted a link in another thread to someone else who was concerned about the ingredients.

My personal choice is ECOpure which is made in the UK, prints the ingredients on every bottle, and has published lab reports from independent labs, but have a check in this thred if you want to see which liquids have published test results available: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ing/2716-e-liquid-lab-toxicology-reports.html

I would be more worried about what in cigarettes than eliquid.

The Toxins In Cigarettes
©Ron Harder 2001 From http://www.shift.to/health

According to this poster, which was produced by the Department Of Health, there are many toxic compounds that the tobacco industry is hiding in cigarettes, and some of them will surprise you. We have been told that cigarette smoke causes cancer, and that it kills. In this article I would like to make you aware of some of the chemicals found in cigarette smoke that make it so deadly. Here are eleven of the most toxic.

Acetone - A flammable, colorless liquid used as a solvent. It's one of the active ingredients in nail polish remover. The tobacco industry refuses to say how acetone gets into cigarettes.

Ammonia - A colorless, pungent gas. The tobacco industry says that it adds flavor, but scientists have discovered that ammonia helps you absorb more nicotine - keeping you hooked on smoking.

Arsenic - A silvery-white very poisonous chemical element. This deadly poison is used to make insecticides, and it is also used to kill gophers and rats.

Benzene - A flammable liquid obtained from coal tar and used as a solvent. This cancer-causing chemical is used to make everything from pesticides to detergent to gasoline.

Benzoapyrene - A yellow crystalline carcinogenic hydrocarbon found in coal tar and cigarette smoke. It's one of the most potent cancer-causing chemicals in the world.

Butane - A hydrocarbon used as a fuel. Highly flammable butane is one of the key ingredients in gasoline.

Cadmium - A metallic chemical element used in alloys. This toxic metal causes damage to the liver, kidneys, and the brain; and stays in your body for years.

Formaldehyde - A colorless pungent gas used in solution as a disinfectant and preservative. It causes cancer; damages your lungs, skin and digestive system.

Embalmers use it to preserve dead bodies.

Lead - A heavy bluish-gray metallic chemical element. This toxic heavy metal causes lead poisoning, which stunts your growth, and damages your brain. It can easily kill you.

Propylene Glycol - A sweet hygroscopic viscous liquid used as antifreeze and as a solvent in brake fluid. The tobacco industry claims they add it to keep cheap "reconstituted tobacco" from drying out, but scientists say it aids in the delivery of nicotine (tobaccos active drug) to the brain.

Turpentine - A colorless volatile oil. Turpentine is very toxic and is commonly used as paint thinner.

The toxic chemicals mentioned above are what you are putting into your body when you smoke, and when you draw this smoke into your lungs, your body has absolutely no chance to defend itself from these chemicals.

That's why I no longer order from China. I have no idea what's in there or who or how it was mixed.

I order made in the US 60mg/ml juice here, then mix it down myself.

This juice has been analyzed both by Dvap, one of our forum chemists and by me. The nic content is exactly what he says it is.

Depending on the FDA vs. SE court case, I may start a juice company. In fact, if you could see my kitchen....you would see that I'm taking it so far as experimenting with nicotine extraction straight from the tobacco leaf.

Have to have that out of there before my girl gets back from Jersey...lol

Well if it makes you feel better, all that crap in products from china (anti-freeze toothpaste, dumplings made out of cardboard, ect ect) was a huge scandle over there too. But they do have oversight, it was just the guy in charge of it at the time was corrupt and taking bribes left and right. I remember when stories started to break about the dog food, and then quicker then you could blink tooth paste.

First thing china had to say about it was they had executed the offical in charge of making sure that didn't happen for corruption and fraud and betraying the peoples (commies...) trust. There are still some things that might cause you to worry (the average toy maker isn't all that concerned if your kid gets a little dose of lead in his hot wheel for example.) but for the most part the people who need to worry about killer chemicles in those are the people who make them.
