Hello and welcome to the rest of your life:vapor: I started with Blu cigs 3 years ago; dint like em all that much. Fast forward to 8 months ago; heard about Vamos and ProVari's and Vivi Novas and Phil Busardo. Took the plunge, figuring if I was gonna quit after 30 years of analogs, I'd give it the best shot. Ordered a ProVari and Vivi Novas. Quit analogs the next day, and have not even had a craving for tobacco a little bit.
I cannot tell you how many posts I've seen from folks who went thru the whole cigalike, eGo, yada yada, and ended up with a VV device. Even if you start with a $60 iTaste MVP (my backup device, and it's great!) you will give yourself the best chance to change your life forever.
Just sayin'...wouldn't you spend the cost of a carton of coffin nails on something that will last you for months?
Good Luck and welcome to the best social group on the Web!

I just bought a Vamo and was going to buy a Provari but held off being a newbie and all.

So which one do you end up using..the vamo or the provari ?

Thanks

You should definitely jump in, but going with the njoy kit is more like jumping in with one foot - probably more expensive long term as well. I would say go to the stage where you get yourself a variable-voltage device (i.e. vision spinner, ego twist), some type of clearomizer (i.e. iclear30) or decent kind of cartomizers (i.e. boge low resistance) and some good e-liquid (too many options to list, check out some reviews here first).

That said, I quickly stepped up to the VAMO and within a month had gotten a Provari as a birthday present - you might consider skipping all the lower-powered devices and go straight to a moderate variable-voltage/wattage device.

Please check out Smokeless Image. They are outstanding in customer service! And so helpful. I started vaping 3 weeks ago. They have been great! If you get smaller versions of a real cigarette, you will spend a lot of time recharging batteries. They have a 650 mah pass through battery you can vape while charging too! Lasts me almost all day. I have some smaller e cigs that I used, to get me through until I got my order from them. What a pain! Charging them every 2 hours. Their 650 battey is the same size round as a aa battery. Not hard to get used to at all. I just carry it around my neck on a lanyard. They also have some great refillable cartos that I really like. Best of luck!

My personal experiences with cigalikes have been disappointing in the fact that I went through carts very fast. But if you want to stick with dispos, you can till you feel the need to go beyond. However, you could get a simple battery and tank set like the ego Tank Kits, and buy some ready to vape e-juice. Less stress but still much better experience than using dispos IMHO.

The setup that James chapman is referring to is

And I agree, as a noobie to vaping myself, that this is a very good starter kit. It isn't too pricey, and it is very easy to setup and use. Just buy some e juice, load it up and go! And there are soooooo many flavors of juice to choose from that it is a lot of fun finding the one that makes you go "WOW"!
Again, this is a very easy to use setup.

I don't know much about the Njoy kits and how well they are really, but I know the kit that got me vaping was the Volcano magma kit, and I would recommend it just for the pure fact that it has a little tank, so you aren't restricted to specific juices. And it is pretty decent for the price and what you're getting. When I bought it you got 2 batteries, 1 atomizer, PCC, 5 tanks, and 1 bottle of Volcano's branded e-liquid. So it wasn't that bad of a deal I thought...I didn't really use it for that long, but just because I decided to get an ego twist.

Hi, Gerick!

Actually, I'm still on disposables (except for the Eonsmoke starter kit I bought), trying different brands. I was down the shore this week in Jersey and tried some fruit-flavored e-cigs from a hooka shop on the boardwalk. First time for non tabacco flavors.

But, I really appreciate all the advice so far on larger kits. And, I must admit, I'm this far away from trying one. I have still smoked a couple of analogs the past two weeks, however. And a friend of mine, who is a much heavier, smoker has still not gone over completely to the e-cigs. I wish I could be a stronger influence.

A lot of folks on here are a real inspiration, however. And I am so looking foreward to Big Tobacco have less of hold on my life.

I started on those Njoy eciggs and my biggest disappointment was how long the battery would last and where I could go to restock. Needless to say, they didn't work out for me in the short run, and I went back to smoking regular ciggs.

A good friend of mine, finally convinced me to try his mods and then on January I quit for good and haven't looked back since!

If you're serious about quitting, try a starter kit like the Ego Twist and with a $70 investment for one, it will change your views forever. It did mine... G'luck!

Jump in. The outlay up front is a lot but not as much as you will spend on cigs. If I knew anything about Mech mods when I bought my e-cig (whatever it was) for 90$ I would have kicked myself. It's the same cost as my Mech mod (minus the expensive batteries and charger and tank, mind you) ... One of the batteries didn't even work in my first e-cig kit. I never re-ordered juice cartridges. It sucked. Went back to smoking for 2 months. Wasted 90$ right there. I say jump in with a sense of adventure and cautious frugality.

If the cigalikes are working for you, then that's great. Lots of stories about them not working too well, so that's why you hear about the more expensive kits and upgrades. They didn't work for me, so I went back to smoking. Even the smaller egos and dripping didn't work two years later. But now, it's 2013, and vaping has entered it's own. New gear practically every day. I foolishly try to keep up and I'm loving it. My worst day vaping, though, is significantly better than my best day smoking. Congrats on quitting. When you're ready to dive in, then you will and you'll love it too, I'm sure. Good luck to you and thank you for sharing your story.

When I started vaping I smoked too. It took me a week to only vape. In that week I went from 2 PAD to a half pack. My outlook was counting the ones I didn't smoke instead of the ones I did. It helped me from getting discouraged and giving up. Hopefully you and your friend are off the coffin nails soon. Everyone does it at their own pace. You came to the best place for support and help.
You might want to check out the cigalike threads for more info.
