So I just bought the nemesis clone im wondering if I can use a Sony vtc3 battery on it. The rating on it is 30 amp 3.7v 4.2 output high drain battery 1600 mah. Anyways I want to know if I can sub-ohm safely and effectively. As of now I don't have an ohm reader but I do have 26 gauge kanthol wire so I was wondering how many wraps I would do for for a single as well as a double wrap. Trying to quit smoking once and for all and this is right up my alley! This is my first mech mod but I have been vaping for 2 years just never could quit. Im FINALLY ready to quit these damn cancer sticks so any help is appreciated thanks dudes!

Hi and welcome,

No. Not "safely".

What topper are you using? The "nemesis" is only the battery tube.

Cheers

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

An Ohm reader or DMM is a required tool if you are going to be rebuilding.

If you are new to mech mods and rebuildables I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding mods and rebuildables are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

11. Deeper Understanding of Mod Batteries Part 1
* For those who want to learn the differences between IMR, IMR/hybrid, and ICR batteries. What do those numbers and letters on batteries mean? What's an amp rating?

12. Deeper Understanding of Mod Batteries Part 2
* Protected vs unprotected batteries - what's the difference? Ohm's Law 101. What is an AW battery? What is an inline fuse? What is stacking batteries?

17. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

The gear you have is sufficient to sub-ohm. I would recommend picking up an ohm reader because it is imperative that you build a coil that doesn't draw more amps that your battery is rated for. If you have a local B&M they can be picked up for 10-15 bucks. Technically with a 30 amp battery you can go down to a .14 resistance. I have never gone that low. With 26 gauge Kanthal 5/6 wraps gets you around .25 ohms. I wrap on a 1.8mm diameter needle. That is the lowest I have vaped at and it gives a real good hit. I usually do 6/7 wrap which gives me a .32 ohm resistance. The reason an ohm reader is a must have is because the resistance is determined by numerous factors. The thickness of wire, the diameter of the coil, the length of the leads, etc. It isn't very safe to build a coil without one.

Thanks for the advice I really appreciate it unfortunately I just spent all my money on a mod battery accessories etc.... So hopefully I will be building in the upcoming month! Still I am extremely excited im like a kid in a candy store that just found out that the candy stores going out of business for a month to remodel. It will be open one day but sadly not today.

+1 on the ohm reader or DMM.

As said before, an ohm reader or DMM is a required tool if you are going to be rebuilding. Even if you built a coil that was well within the amp rating of your battery you could still have a short. They only way to know this is to measure your build.
