Genesis 10:9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.

Cookie please...

I'd give you a cookie if I could, but that's not what I was looking for. I hope I haven't done this wrong. If I have, I apologize. But you are in the right Book - Genesis. That's a big hint! You are close, but no cigar.......no tobacco....spit, spit. How could I have said that!!! Bad Cruiser, Bad Cruiser!

I don't know if I know the exact answer but here is how my brain thinks about this question.
The serpent was a predator in that he preyed upon Eve due to her weakness. "Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" So I can kinda see him being a type of hunter.

But also I can see God possibly being the first hunter. He was "looking" for Adam after Adam's fall.
"And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?" But of course God knew exactly where they were. He wasn't really trying to find them because you can't hide from God.

Or Adam himself could have been the first hunter. I believe that Adam was the one who had too take the life of the lamb that God used to cover Adam and Eve's nakedness. I believe it was by Adam's hand that the very first creature to ever die was killed. So Adam would have had to hunt down that critter and then God made the coats of skin to cover their nakedness.

But then again it may have been Noah. He may have had to hunt down some animals to gather em up to load up that big boat of his. Plus when the flood waters reseeded and every one and everything got off the boat God says "eat meat"."Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things." So in order to eat meat they would possibly need to hunt that meat first.

I never once thought about this; I get the impression your right. In the Hebrew Bible it has the word CRAFTY(subtil) which means clever at achieving one's aims by indirect or deceitful methods.

Never thought of that guy as being a hunter but that's exactly what he does all the time.

Fishee, you were so close to hitting the mark! I was going with Genesis 3:21 - Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.

God was the first hunter, to get the skins to cover their nakedness. There is always a price for sin. You might get away with it for a season, thinking God hasn't hit me with lightning, but in the end, there is always a price. In the Old Testament, animals were sacrificed. In the New Testament, Jesus was our sacrifice. No more animal sacrifices by the Jews until the Tribulation and the Temple is built. And if you wonder about the original sin nature, look at young children. "NO. MINE!" How many times have you ever had to encourage your children to be bad. It's automatic in us. When someone asks me for advice, I ask if they want my human side or my spiritual side. They are opposite. My sister many years ago, hurt me to the core. The Lord told me 'No retribution.' I kept saying, 'Please let me deck her just once! Just once, Lord!' This went back and forth for some minutes. No, I didn't deck her....wound up forgiving her. It's a battle. satan cannot hurt God, so he hurts those that God loves. You are right, Fishee, satan hunts. That is an excellent answer for the question, but I was going for the Scripture with animal skins.

Have you wondered how the serpent looked? From Scripture, it must have had feet of somekind since God said it would have to slither on it's belly.

    COOKIES FOR EVERYONE!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Well, again, you've 'taught' me something about 'how' to respond when People come to me seeking advice. We've got our 'carnal' sides and our 'spiritual' sides, and it's ALWAYS first instinct to respond quickly in the carnal/flesh side.

When I was younger and thought I was soooooo much smarter than....well most people, I would argue because I was right, by golly! It was all important to me to be right! My last boss, before I had to quit work, said to me, "What does it matter who's right and who's wrong as long as it gets fixed." Those words have stuck with me. My husband and I 'argue' very little. We have disagreements. It took me a very long time to learn, "Say what you have to say and drop it!" We might not talk much for a few days, but things get back to normal. There are many things, in my earlier years, that I would say and argue over, but now.....it's just not that important. I pick my battles. If it is an extremely important issue, then I will say something. If not, it's just easier to keep my mouth shut. He hasn't been able to work much in 3 1/2 years. We've been together 24/7 for that length of time. We have our different areas of the house when we want some privacy and to be alone with our thoughts. When I was younger, I'd be upset that he didn't want to spend his off time with me. Foolish, foolish, foolish! Everyone needs time alone. Our immediate action is a reaction. You hit me, I hit you back. That's just the sin nature. I have no idea why I have posted this. Maybe it's just to pass along another tidbit I had to learn the HARD way. :)

In this day and age, I've become quite leery or even a bit paranoid about strangers. I talk to folks in the doctors office, usually about Jesus by saying, Praise God, but never open the door to strangers.....even though we are definitely 2nd Ammendment and NRA people. The crime rate here is higher than I would like. I never take my puppies out at night without my 2nd Ammendment and extremely bright flashlight. A small flashlight can stop someone in their tracks. We have 3 ankle biters that alert us when a leaf falls to the grass, a grasshopper hops through the grass, or a noise that they aren't familiar with....or even familiar with....or absolutely nothing at all. We have great 2nd Ammendment laws in MS and we're becoming quite the envy of the nation. But that takes away from what you posted. I would hope that a discerning spirit would let me know the difference, otherwise, I would really be missing out on a blessing. :(

Oh Amen! I believe to this day there are times when I have!

Back in in 1990 When I came to Jesus. I couldn't put the Bible down really every second any place I would open it and read. day and night.

I remember this one time while going to work in NYC on the subway (train) it was about hour ride while reading my Bible I glance up and I saw this tall black very handsome guy in a suite dresses real good staring at me he had something about him; around 6 foot tall; I'm a guy and to me he was beautiful was something different about him he was standing and walked over to me and looked straight in my eye's while smiling so gentle and he said "that's a good book your reading" nothing else then turned around and walked off the train.

It left an impression with me that's always with me. Can't explain it maybe he was angel. I always wonder knowing though there will be TIME I'll know - it's just not now.

From your story, I'm leaning to the angelic side. There was something about it that makes me want to agree with you. Either way, it was a blessing! :)

Maybe he will be the welcome wagon in that tunnel of light I hear so much about when my time comes.

That would be awesome to get a big hug from him.

OFF TOPIC: I learned this week; Life always was or came into existence once and lives on through us. :?:

I made a new friend also this week little ZYGOTE. :)

I'm still thinking on the question was/came ? Hum....

I'm leaning to the ANGELIC side here also.
