I posted this elsewhere, but got no response whatsoever. I thought I would post it here, as I know someone here can quickly answer this question. What will happen if you put one 3.7 battery in a 5v regulated mod (specifically, an ego e-power 5v regulated, which takes two stacked 16340s). My brother bought one and doesn't like 5 volts. I know there are some 3.7 volt batts that will fit the battery casing, but I don't know if it will fire that way. Will it? Thanks for any help.

Did he get the 3.7 volt switch with it. The 5 volt switch was an extra switch option.
I really only use my 3.7 volt switch, I agree did not like the 5 volt vape either.
It dose not work with only 1 batt I tried it.

I think he only got the one switch. I'll let him know to look around and see if he can find just the 3.7v switch.

Actually depends on the regulator. A low dropout 5V linear regulator will put out close to 3.7V with 3.7V applied. A standard regulator will put out 3.7V less the dropout which is usually around 1.2V. A step-down switching regulator will put out 3.7V minus its dropout or may not put out anything depending on its operating range, varies widely with those.

For the e-Power specifically, it may not fire at all since it probably has a voltage cutout to protect the cells from over-discharge. I don't know one way or the other, but I just wanted to clarify that a 5V regulator itself can possibly still put out close to 3.7V with 3.7V applied.

Regardless, you don't want to try to use one cell on a regulated mod that requires two. Even if it does work, it's not going to work as well as a single cell with no regulator.

Most times you would get 3.7v out with a single batt on a 5v regulator. It however will heat the regulator up . For the chips with a thermal cutoff you will get 3.7v until the reg heats up and cuts off. Since we are only vaping for a few seconds at a time it most likely wont be able to get hot enough to cutoff .
