I was taking a Samsung 25R off the charger and it is spring loaded on the charger so since im a little tired my finger slipped and it caused a small barely noticeable tear about the size of a ball point pen tip.

I know with tears you should almost always rewrap but when I look into the tiny hole I dont see exposed metal all I see is the white from the insulator ring. So even if metal from my mods touched this hole that metal would be touching the insulator ring through the hole and as long as no metal is touching metal where it shouldnt am I ok to let this go?

I just got these batteries 2 weeks ago I have some precut battery wraps from Illumn supply but for such a small tear what should I do? Leave it alone? Perhaps a little piece of electrical tape?

Thanks, trying to put safety first here!

Probably not much to worry about if the area is still protected. I'd just keep a close eye on it. If you can put something on it that won't hurt it's functionality then go ahead, but mainly just keep a close eye on it.

For safety first: take no chances.

I had a plastic box mod (a terminator squonker) sitting around for a few months which I wasn't using, but when I developed two batteries with tears on them, I used them in that plastic box where there wasn't any way for a short to occur.

I'd seal the tear and watch it for further splitting. When in a mod it will be securely aligned with the positive contact, so there's probably not much to worry about.

I love my Efest LUC 4 charger, but the center two bays are 26650 compatible with a wide curve and that means a slip is possible if you aren't careful when charging 18650s.
