I recently got tasty vapor's Kretek, and it really isnt what I wanted. It taste more like cinnamon tobacco than kretek(clove). I did let the juice steep first, two weeks.

So, I was wondering if I could get clove oil and add it straight into the mix to try to kick up the clove flavor or do I need to do something to clove oil before mixing. Thanks for any help on this.

If you do.. you will want to try it in a small batch.. like 3ml so not to ruin the whole thing. I've heard different points of view on adding a flavor with oil (as opposed to water soluble) to a mix. some say they do fine with it though. I guess it depends on what vendor you get it from. I added Loranns orange (oil) to some creamsicle and it did fine. It's worth a try anyway. let us know how it turns out.

Yes, but one hint...

I mix my own Djarum-like juice. I use 75% clove oil and 25% anise oil, then add an equal part pg to that to dilute it by half. I then use that mixture at 1% in my juice, and it's still strong. 2% is very strong, anything more is pretty much unvapable.

So if you're mixing clove oil into 3 ml of juice, even 1 drop might be too much. You may want to dilute your clove oil first to make it easier, or possible, to measure out a smaller amount.

Where do you get the clove and anise oil?

bought some clove oil from a local healthfood store. i started by adding 2 drops in a 20ml bottle (yo get the 1 drop/10ml average i've seen in other threads on the subject of diy clove juice). it still didn't have much of a clove flavor, so i decided to step up to 4 drops/20ml. the clove flavor was still overpowered by the cinnamon/tobbacco and it didnt improve the aroma at all. And found that about 4 mouthfuls will make my entire mouth go completely numb and make me unable to taste anything.

I think I'll let the juice sit a few weeks and try again, but I really hold no hope for this juice. I think i'll end up trading it off.
