I've been trying and failing to find *something* that's even remotely like a Djarum Black clove cigarette. At worst, most "clove" juices are like licking potpourri. At best, not much like a Black. Right out of the bottle, Kretek from TastyVapor was close-ish, but too strong, way too sweet, and too heavy on the clove, and not nearly enough tobacco... but at least it had good tobacco in it, and was in the right neighborhood. So, I took it upon myself to fiddle and see if I could make something, anything, more like a Black to my taste.
I mixed: Kretek by TastyVapor, unsweetened (and it's plenty sweet even unsweetened, trust me!). Boba's Bounty by AVE. RY4 by Want2Vape. Plain unflavored VG. And this awful, awful anise-bomb flavored liquid that is purported to be "Djarumn Black" by AmericaneLiquidStore.com. You could easily replace the "Djarumn Black" with anise flavoring mixed into PG or VG- the juice I'm using is basically nothing but straight, uber-strong anise. I really liked the effect of Boba's particularly, with the dash of RY4, but I think any high quality tobacco liquid from a vendor that creates their own tobacco flavors with macerated tobacco is the ticket here.
The proportions I used:
1 mL Kretek by TastyVapor
1.5 mL plain VG- you could also use a VG with nic if you don't want to end up with a weaker liquid
10 drops of the anise - appx. 1/4 mL
20 drops Boba's Bounty (note: this is a LOT less than a full mL, more like 1/2 mL, even though supposedly 20 drops is around a full mL, this liquid is totally different)
10 drops RY4 by Want2Vape (again, around 1/2 mL)
The result? About as close as I can ever hope to get to a Djarum Black again, IMO. It's only got the hint-of-sweet like a real clove, it isn't potpourri-like, and it's got the mouth numbing feel and hint of anise flavor. (I think even at 10 drops the anise is a smidge strong, but it's pretty darn close anyway- might try 7 drops next time.) And the good, mild tobacco from the Boba's & RY4 makes it a lot closer too. I'm sure that any really good tobacco blend you favor, especially the milder/sweeter ones, are going to be good if anyone else is desperate for a closer-to-the-real-deal clove flavor.
I just put it in my black Joye 510 and ohmigod, it's so perfect for me. I have definitely craved cloves and had *nothing* to replace them- this, yes. Perfect for when cheesecake flavors aren't what I want, but tobacco flavors are not my thing either (since I never smoked straight tobacco, vaping it isn't really to my taste either.)
I'm gonna take a guess that the DIY forum is the best place for this, rather than the eliquid reviews forum, even if it's more of a frankenjuice project than a true DIY juice. I did want this out there somewhere though, in case anyone else had experienced my level of annoyance with the sheer utter lack of good clove juice.
