Question about batteries

So I need 18350 batteries for the new device I purchased, which is variable wattage up to 12.5 watts.

I already purchased 18350 batteries, which are not IMR... will these batteries be able to generate the full wattage, or will I have to buy IMR batteries?

These days IMRs are most recommended due to the safety of the chemicals used. However, that's a relatively recent development and for years the standard mech mod battery was a protected lithium ion battery. If yours is a PROTECTED lithium ion battery then it's still safe to use.

If yours is not protected or is neither IMR nor Lithium-ion then I would definitely recommend buying new batteries and not using those.

The amps are what get you. IMRs tend to have much better amp ratings than protected batteries. AW, Sony, LG, some others, may cost more but what is your face worth to you?

What device did you buy? They (manufacture) recommend what battery should be used.

My guess is they recommend the high drain IMR.

yes they recommend high drain imr... i didnt realize that at the time, luckily i only spent 12 bucks on the wrong ones, thank u all for your help

If your regulated device only goes up to 12.5watts, I'm going to guess that it probably has an amp limit of 3.5, so the lowest resistance you can use is 1.2 ohm to get the max output on it. I don't specs of protected batteries since I don't use them, but all reputable 18350 IMR's that I've come accross have a 6amp or higher rating, so stick with Efest, or AW for best life, safety and performance. If your batteries are protected and have an amp rating higher than 3.5, then you should be good to go at your own discretion.
