Hello all,
I started vaping a couple months ago, have been reading this forum for a couple weeks, but this is my first post. You all seem very nice and almost unbelievably helpful! My question is, I have found a few juices that I like (FS banana nut bread, FS tiramisu, Coke & lime, spearmint) but most others have a chemical taste to them for me. I seriously love peach as a food, but have tried two different brands of juice (the one with the blue lines top and bottom on the label but no name and FS just peachy) and they taste chemical-ly and plasticky. (Did I mention I like to make up words?) Same with pineapple, chocolate (very plasticky!), FS smores (I was really excited about that one too, damn it). Is there something I can do to get over this? Should I add flavor? Is there another juice I should add? Is there an additive to get rid of this??? Could it be a flavor stuck in my attys (though I rotate through 5 of them and get it on all of them)? Any help is deeply appreciated!

Nice to "meet" you all!

Kick Bass Vapors, a supplier with their own sub-forum here, has an AMAZING real-tasting chocolate. It's not fake or plasticy like others that I've tasted. :)

They only open the store 2 nights a week right now (Tue & Fri at 8pm Eastern), but they have a HUGE following and amazing stuff! Vapealicious and Deejstuff also both have amazing juices!

Hope you find what you're looking for! :vapor:

What PG/VG? And what brands? And how are you vaping them? If w/ atomizer, when did you last clean it? Ut atomizer and cart, you may be singeing the stuffing or cart if the atomizer is not kept wet enough and gets too hot (re cart stuffing - restuff with blue foam*). If tanks or plastic carto, how new are they (new can have plastic taste)? If with stuffing cartomizers, are you keeping them damp with suitable juice (I find suitable for slim ecig cartos to be thin juices like PG w/ 20% or less VG and I avoid ones that drop a lot of flavoring sediment)

You need to try a lot of juices. You need to smell the vapor since your tongue can only taste sweet, salty, bitter, sour and umami (MSG).

If any juices have a flowery or perfumey smell that can be from overflavoring. Try popping out the dropper tip (hold with tissue and tilt tip while lifting) and set the totally open bottle somewhere safe from spills, kids, pets for several hours or overnight. Then push the tip back in and recap. You can try it now, or let it sit a week and try it. That is steeping and it will help some juices. But some juice makers just suck at making juices and have an abnormal number of perfumey flavors.

* blue foam: This is for the cartridges that stick onto or into an atomizer (not for tanks, not for cartomizers). For 510 carts buy precut blue foam cart stuffing at strictlyejuice.com. For tiny super-mini carts, just cut those down. Under $1 for 10. For larger cartridges go to Petsmart and buy Marineland Rite-Size U Bonded Foam Sleeve from the aquarium dept. Most cut foam about 3/4 the inner depth of the cart and very slightly wider - just enough to help it stay in place and not so much that the holes in the foam get pressed closed. Then taper the inner end a bit. This stuffing is less likely to give a burning plastic taste.

I concur, just had my first experience myself with the effects of steeping. Had 4 flavors delivered, one I like. All seemed to have this taste about them I didn't like. Took tops off bottles, let em sit for a week, now I'm digging them. I do have to note some flavors I like better in a carto, some better with atty and cart. Some flavors however I just don't like but it's normal.

Welcome to flavor chasing. It's an expensive albeit worthwhile hobby:) Steeping tobacco flavors is legit. Some take a few weeks or more. Steeping fruits and sweets a day or two to get the chemical flavor out is also legit. After that you're fruits/sweet flavors aren't going to change much in my experience. Over time they'll get darker from the nicotine "tanning" but the taste doesn't change much.

Didn't notice if you were using an carto or an atty/cart combo. If the latter, the attys come shipped with a machine oil that needs to be blown out prior to using. Then take 3-4 puffs without inhaling to burn off the excess...all this prior to filling with juice. That machine oil tastes really bad.

If it is cartos that you're using, it could (as dormouse stated) very well be your juice isn't of the proper consistency to wick well.
