So I've searched and searched in regards to this question and have decided to make a thread.

My question is should I go with the L or the W. I didn't want the W because I hear the battery life with it drops like crazy ( I taste mvp 2), but the L I hear needs some drilling and apparently the the top isn't secure enough, yada yada yada.

I don't know my way around a drill, and I don't know enough about ribbon wire. What I do know is that kanthal wire is a good pick, and silica wick is awesome.

So which do I pick?

I'm running an mvp 2 and I really enjoy sweet juices running at higher power levels.

The IGO-L is pure simplicity...large work area for a SINGLE coil.....TRY the hole AS IS -- you MAY NOT need to drill it out!!!
I've got 3 -L's.....and I find them to be great for "taste-testing" various juices and checking coil resistance on my MVP v2...
The IGO-W adds a third post, which allows a more convenient platform for dual (or even quad) coil assembly....Of course, you can also use the -W as a single-coil unit, too....
If you're considering more than ONE coil builds, I'd go with the -W.....otherwise, the -L should do you well....and the "loose top" issue has been remedied in the latest iterations (almost TOO tight now, IMO!!:D)..
You might want to try using cotton instead of silica....you can NOT dry-burn with cotton, but I find it wicks easier...and a bag of 100 sterile cotton balls or a roll of gauze or yarn will last a LONG time!!!;)
Good Luck!
Happy (vaping) Trails!

You can actually use either for single or double coil builds.

The W won't use any more electricity than the L...it's the coils that use the electricity, not the RDA.

I have the W. I kinda wish I would have gotten the L because it would be easier to fit coils in it. The extra post gets in the way sometimes. But that's just my :2c: You may find you want the extra post to make the double coil thing easier (although it isn't required)

Thank you all for the replies, I was looking at the L because I work a minimum wage job and it was most cost effective and looked like a lot of fun. Personally I absolutely despise the look of both of them but beggars can't be choosers. I'm going to save some cash and probably purchase the W along with a drip tip and possibly a syringe... Don't know yet though. Any good websites? I am kind of a sicker for a harder, yet smooth draw similar to the mt3 by kanger, but maybe a little harder than the protank

I have to igo l's and i love em. Didnt mess with the air hole at all but some people do. I just had to find the right kinda coil set up and it works great. I use it on an mvp v2 as well lol. I think i saw them cheap at trianglevapes. I got mine from mt baker because i already had an order together

I have both the L and the W. The air holes were very small on both. I use 11-12mg nic and using the IGOs was a very harsh hit. i had to drill out the air holes on both. i used a 1/16 bit. I used to like a tighter draw but after using them with the new holes i like the looser draws. Now I think my mt3's have too tight of a draw. The W is easier to do a build on since they have holes in the posts to feed the wire through and theres a third post for a dual coil setup. You can also run a single coil on the W as well and when your ready for duals you won't have to purchase another RDA.

Wait!! Before you place your order that kanthal is way expensive go to temco . Youll get 100 feet for somewhere around 6 bucks i believe. And cotton is waaaay cheaper then silica just buy a bag of cotton balls itll last you an eternity. End up spending less then ten bucks for enough to work with for a very very long time .

I'm not placing the order for a couple weeks as I'm broke and living paycheck to paycheck ( aren't we all? ), and it's going to be a nice treat for myself when I can afford it. College and a full time job are difficult to balance both time wise and economically. I will read into it though, what are the pros and cons?

For sure just wanted to catch you before you did. And i get it lol im broke as hell without a paycheck to live off of.

Only con i can think of is you cant dry burn so you have to replace the cotton more when cleaning.

Pros are the price and it gives a great flavor. Ive rewicked probably 8 times off half a cotton ball maybe less so a bag you pay a dollar or three for will last you years and years compared to silica where you pay a dollar for a foot and end up having maybe 3 wicks because youll have to waste some. Honestly cottons perfect for your situation because you wont have to worry about ordering more wick unless you decide to experiment

Temco is a company they sell kanthal and a bunch of other wire. They have an ebay store to. Id go with 30 or 28 guage kanthal a1 resistance wire. I have 30 now and i love it but wish i had some 28 so i could do more wraps and get a little lower res without using a smaller drill bit. But 7 wraps gives me 1.7 ohms right now with 30
