So I jumped in without regard to where I was landing. I knew I wanted to quit smoking, but was not impressed by "Blue E-Cigs".

A couple of years later I notice the technology has changed and vape stores are popping up all over the place. People I know are vaping, "What the Hell?". I'll give it a shot.

I buy an MVP 2, an kangertach aerotank v2, and a nautilus mini BVC. Love vaping! Only smoked again to figure out it was nasty. Going on 2 weeks.

Do little research. Get intrigued by dripping, rebuilding, et cetrera. How hard can it be? Buy some 28g kanthal and cotton..... buy an IGO-L..........................

HOLY ....! The IGO-L is straight delicioso. I wish I would have had a little elf tell me to forgo the tanks, heads, and high ml nic juice. Drippin is the shiz. I built a couple coils and was off to the races on an MVP 2 + IGO-L.

Sorry... Gotta go.... Chain vape! wooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Welcome to the forum rhoggman, glad you found your vape happy place.

First dripper I got was an Igo-L - a really good little atty that I still build occasionally and have a vape on. Something to consider for you - drill out that tiny airhole. I used to think it wasn't worth the bother, but it really makes a good dripper into a great one.

Regardless, once you start it's hard to stop, so hide the credit card and vape on.

Man, that's pretty fast jumping right into rebuilding! Took me a while to get there. Glad you're getting the flavor that you want from your atty. Took me a while to find out about mods and attys when I first started vaping. Make sure you're using an ohm reader to check your builds too! Safety first!

Hiding the card doesn't help. I have the card memorized. Just wait until you slap that topper on something that pumps a few more watts. It blew my mind. I haven't been able to use a tank since I started dripping. Igo w3 is my go to right now. It is a bit of a pain to build doubles on but it has airflow that is crazy.

Have fun and welcome

Welome; you got on the ball pretty fast! Nice going; you'll save a bundle.
The igo-L is a pretty standard dripper design.

1852803-1.jpg

30mm magma;
The air comes in from 'below' from the two holes you see on the sides, and goes upward to the two holes you see on top the deck above the drip well; you position your coils over those holes; I got mine setup with 1 coil, and plugged the other hole with foil so I can wad on more cotton over on that other side.
Notice that there is no center post, which means the two posts where you put screw down your coil are widely separated.
Also, its a screw on topcap, whereas most drippers use rubber o-ring seals and a slide on top cap. Rubber rings will eventually wear down, but the magma will last forever by the looks of it (except maybe for the plastic piece I mention below)
Also has adjustable center pin.

Downsides:
1: flathead/slot type screws plus it's headless screws. If I could find the right sized screws I guess I could change them.
2: to achieve the no-center-post design they ended up with a block of white plastic down there you can see it in the pic although you might not notice it at first glance (I never did notice it till I got it in my hand).

Also got this:
1776804-3.jpg

30mm veritas.

Very unusual well thought out design; just 1 airhole, and it passes straight through the center post horizontally; I just keep it horizontal with the airhole upward and I don't have to worry about leaking;
Wide space between the two points to attach the coil because of how they put the positive high, and the negative low, and the airhole sits right in the middle to line up with the coil.

Only downside is the fastech clone I got came with screws that aren't stainless steel; they started rusting the day I put it to soak to wash out machine oil.
I guess also the centerpin, even though it looks like it should be adjustable, I'm still scratching my head how to adjust it.

Actually... from reading here before I purchased, drilling out the air-hole was my first order of business. Good thing it was cheap Chinese metal. I did it by hand with no issues.

What am I going to do with $80 worth of brand new clearomizer tanks?

Finally Edyle posted up about the magma - it's a terrific atomizer.

That Magma definitely looks nicer for beginner; however, I'm dumbfounded by the difference in flavor and the thickness of vape. I'll probably stick to what I have got for now.

The IGO-L is the dripper I am talking about.

Oh; forgot to quote; I was commenting on the difference in flavor; using a dripper is like vaping directly off a really big atomizer instead of having a tiny atomizer down inside a tank.

I want to start getting into mechanicals, I'm deciding between a Magma and an IGO-L. Are the considered good choices for a beginner to mechs?

A mechanical mod is a container for a battery.

A magma and igo-l, are rebuildable dripping atomizers aka rda aka drippers. They go on top of a power source/mod which can be regulated or mechanical.

Thanks for the clarification, I'm beginning to understand this now. It's pretty overwhelming. Would you recommend those 2 RDA's for a beginner? Also would I need to learn how to build coils if I get into RDA's? I'm assuming they're not ready to start vaping out of the box.

I'd recommend the magma and veritas; but igo is a big name in drippers so you can't go wrong with an igo.
The magma is real easy to build on.

When you buy any rebuildable, it is very advisable to let them soak in dishsoap water overnight to clean out the machine oil; you can dissassemble it into a teacup, taking out all screws, add some hot water, and a few drops of dish soap; then next day give it a good rinse in warm water; just be carefull not to lose any small parts/screws.
Cleaning is especially important where the decking has holes on the sides that carry the airflow horizontal then vertical; same for fill port like on the kayfun 3.1

Yes you would need to build coils for an RDA: RDA = ReBuildable Dripping Atomizer.

Sometimes when you buy a dripper or an rta (Rebuildable Tank Atomizer), they come preassembled with coil and wick; but you really don't know if that thing has been cleaned- chances are it hasn't.

Or about $15 $15.79 Magma Style Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer - 1:1 clone / stainless steel at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

It's actually a very good clone. If you order just this, make sure to pay the upgraded shipping.

I can confirm that this is a great deal for an awesome atty. I'm using it now, it's my 2nd dripper after a trident clone. I was a little worried that it's listed as 23mm, but I'm pretty sure it's just the AFC ring that juts out to 23mm; the base is the same width as my 22mm Fogger, if anyone cares about that sort of thing. Took about 2 weeks from order to door, not too shabby.
