I just got a 510 Dual Coil tank cartomizer from Mad Vapes. I put it on my standard Ego batt and, after vaping about 20 minutes, i burned off the primer but my BIG problem is there's no throat hit. Is there a trick to filling and/or vaping these? I filled the tank about 1/2 full and primed the carto with about 10 drops. There's a lot of hissing and cracking sounds which i dont' mind as long as that doesn't indicate a problem. Does it take a while to break these things in (it's my first tank). It's 1.6ohm. Would i do better hooking it up to a vv batt? If so, what is highest voltage i could use before damaging it?

The carto still needs to be filled all the way just like any other carto and 10 drops isn't going to do it. There is no primer in a carto so what you were probably tasting was the filler being burned until you finally got some juice to it. I would toss that carto and start over with one that is properly filled before going into the tank.

You sound like you might be new to tanking. May I offer a couple tips to enrich your tanking experience?

Get a tank accessory tool like the one from Big Daddy Vapor. It will keep juice out of the center air hole in your carto, which could cause flooding. It will also protect your tank's inner 0-rings from being damaged when the sharp edges of the carto pass thru the end caps. It may seem expensive, but the device works great and makes adding juice so much easier. Watch this video for a great demo:

When prepping the carto before assembling your tank, plug the center air hole with a tooth pic. You don't want juice in there. Patiently fill with your juice until the polyfill looks like a slushy.

Thicker juices (usually with a higher percentage of vg) may wick slower to the coils. More or larger holes may be required.

I AM new to tanking. I only bought one to try so i couldn't start over, but i did soak the polyfill and tried again. Didn't help. Still zero TH.

What do you mean by "Center air hole"? I see a hole near the bottom of the carto for juice to get in but i'm not sure what you mean by center air hole.

I should have mentioned that this tank came with a small think plastic washer that was separate. I have no idea what to do with this. is that what i'm missing?

I'm convinced i'm doing something wrong because i can't believe anybody would be happy with the results i'm getting yet these things seem to be very popular.

BtW, i always use 100% PG.

That whole at the bottom of the Carto isn't for filling the Carto with Juice. It's there to help draw Air through the Carto so you can actually use the apparatus. Automatic Batteries wouldn't work without that hole in the first place. It needs a way of telling that you are trying to use it.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, people use it to fill their Cartos with Liquid - though this isn't necessarily it's intended use.

Just to be clear, the hole i'm talking about is on the SIDE of the carto near the bottom. It's about the size of a pinhole and is submerged with liquid when the tank is full. You can see it throught the side of the tank. I couldn't fill through that as it's too small. Also, i'm using an ego manual battery. Forgot to say that originally.

What i'm confused about is plugging the center air hole with a toothpick. Is that the same hole as the one i'm talking about? If so, why plug it? Isn't juice going to go in there anyway?

still having problems. I've resorted to going back to my leaky Neo Classic as it has a nice TH. Wish i could figure out what i'm doing wrong here, though.

Here's a little more help....maybe.
The hole where the toothpick goes that Baditude is speaking of is inside the top of the carto (opposite end of the threads)
The holes you are referring to on the side that are submerged in liquid, feed the liquid into the carto. There may be 2 holes, and they are almost always to small. There are 2 holes in the threaded area also, that also allow air into the carto as you draw.
