Do most premium juice vendors use the same flavorings that are available for sale on most DIY e-juice sites? Besides the vendors that use their own extracts, everything else is pretty much the EXACT same stuff we can buy and mix? I ask this because I understand a lot of people are willing to pay for well made juice with lots of exotic or subtle components that make it appealing. But for the most part, if you knew their recipe and had the same flavorings that you can buy, then you can make the exact same juice? I have a bunch of DIY stuff that I recently bought but haven't dove too deep into and my boyfriend told me I should make my own juices and sell them. I told him I was just doing this for fun and have no idea what I'm doing, nor do I have any good recipes that I've personally made. And he's like "What, just mix some crap together, record your results, and see if it tastes good. That's what the other vendors do probably." I mean, besides the cute personalized notes, confetti, candies, trinkets, and custom labels, its all about the juice in the end and they don't do anything substantially different?

The answer is...it all depends.

There are juicers that extract a lot of their own flavors (Ahlusion), there are vendors that go out of their way to get very specific flavorings that are exclusive to them (Backwoods Brew - RY4 and eJoker), and there are plenty of vendors that do their own tobacco extractions in house. With that said, most vendors are using exactly the same ingredients that are available to all DIYers. You are perfectly capable of producing juices that are as good, if not better, than the majority of vendors out there. It just takes some time and practice and experimentation.

Keep in mind some of those premium vendors actually steep for a week or as long as three weeks. Some juice is good from the day it's mixed, some gets better with age and some actually gets worse from steeping. There are many variables involved that only chemists truly understand. So if you plan to sell juice you need to get educated and spend time getting advice from a professional. I am sure there are many who simply do what your boyfriend says and bottle up every flavor of LA and TFA while calling their stuff top shelf. Those guys are a dime a dozen while others with very unique flavors which everyone fails to replicate are not. Those tend to be the premium which has as much to do with the process as with the exclusiveness of flavoring.

How many brands of Ketchup are there? Which one is best ,Hunts, Hentz. Great Value , Kroger?

Red Gold made in Indiana from Hoosier tomatoes.

To the OP:

I am convinced that some juice makers throw random flavoring in a bottle, give it a name, and sell it. Some have a hired lab do the same thing for them and charge a bit extra.

There are some out there that do care about the taste and quality they put out so they sweat over the perfect recipe and strive for the best ingredients.

There are some that fall somewhere in between.

There are a number of juice vendors that started right here on this sub-forum. I've seen quite a few come up. (They stop posting in this sub because of ECF rules.)

I like that mans thinking:)

Whew, I have had some REALLY nasty tasting juice from venders before... I honestly don't thing that ANY of my own mixes were worse than a couple of them. Wow, truly horrible tasting stuff that makes one wonder, did they ever even TRY this they are putting out...? Lol

One in particular, Morning Orchid... UGH. *cough, cough and a few gags on the side*

Pretty much this. Some vendors have recipes which call for 5 or more different flavor vendors. Some vendors just buy from a single flavor vendor. Some vendors create their own flavoring agents. It's super contextual to the company in question and the results show. I can mix basically anything that MBV sells, for example, because they use almost nothing but Flavor West flavors. But something like Boba's is a bit different, though, and Ben was quoted in the past as saying he has experimented with up to like 8 different flavor vendors when he was DIYing.

I think experimenting endlessly, buying from a large number of flavor vendors (I'm currently working with 8, although I have 3 more on my wish list), and being honest about how awesome/awful your juice is would be the first step towards taking anything business related seriously. In the meantime, just concentrate on making some awesome juice and have other vapers try it out for reference.

Yea, I have some god awful juices that I've bought in the past and when I vape it, I just think to myself "Someone actually likes this?? Am I crazy or does this taste like !@#$?" I'm no master mixer, but I've made some decent juices on my own that taste way better than some of the crap I've bought. I think they're actually still sitting somewhere... never to be vaped again unless a friend wants it or I run out of juice for some reason.

One vendor's... who's name I won't mention, has like 500 flavors. There is no way they perfect and taste each of these juices. My boyfriend thinks they just randomly make the juice whenever someone orders it, like oh here's strawberry banana. Mix strawberry and banana together at some random %, put it in a bottle and ship out. They probably don't care if it doesn't taste good because they get their profits from people ordering tons of different flavors and most probably 1 time customers. But with so many people out there constantly trying new juice, it doesn't matter if thats their last and only order.

One time I bought a lemon bakery type juice.. picture on site looks good, description sounds yummy, hopefully it's good right? Yea... whoever made this juice DEFINITELY did not taste it. It was foul!! It tasted like lemon dish detergent drizzled inside a bowl of soggy corn flakes cereal with no sugar, and a moldy sponge on top. This was when I was fairly new to vaping and I was pretty annoyed that I had actually paid money for that. Of course, some vendors offer unique juices that I'm not sure I could ever figure out the recipe for or make on my own, which I guess makes it worth paying for.

The rules from the FDA were supposed to come down before the end of Oct so I ordered juice for the first time in 2 years. I only ordered stuff I remember being really good that I haven't figure out how to make myself. One company was fantastic, just as I remember but the other was a total ripoff. I was so .......

I am new to DIY but I have yet to make a mix that I couldn't vape. I may not be my favorite but it didn't get wasted. I can't say that for the "store bought" juices that I have poured down the drain so I could reuse their bottle. Then again, I'm not real picky. If it tastes good then it tastes good. I don't get upset if the "Banana Cream Pie" doesn't have a strong enough pie crust taste.

Such is the beauty of subjective taste. Vendors thrive on the concept. A few people think it's good, post some positive reviews and it sells. It doesn't NEED to be good- because "I can't taste dish soap or dirty sponges at all. You must have vaper's tongue".
And then there are the blind followers who like it just because they don't want to openly hate it. But secretly..... They hate it.

Hangsen, TFA, Capella, LorAnn, Seedmans, Vaping Zone, Flavor West, and I've used Olive Nations although I don't anymore. The three I have in mind are Inawera, One-on-one, and Faeries Finest.

Hi Ahead, I had a question about Faeries Finest. Which flavoring would we be able to use from them, I'm really trying to find rose flavors for the wife. Do you know of any websites with rose flavors, I've seen TFA has it & Inawera. Just trying to expermient & find that special flavor for the wife. Thanks & Aloha!!!

I haven't used them yet myself, but a fellow vaper advised me to shop in the "flavor drops" section of the website. It appears that section is made with a base of glycerin/water as opposed to alcohol/essential oils. Here's the link for the Rose flavoring in the 'flavor drops' section. Be sure to let us know how it tastes if you end up experimenting with it.
