Question about steam turbine

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting to the site but have spent a lot of time reading all of the awesome information on here. I'm relatively new to rebuildable atomizers. I quit analog cigs for vaping back in April of this year and haven't looked back since :) I started using mech mods and rba's about 3 months ago. I recently purchased a steam turbine Genesis style atomizer and for some reason I cannot get it to work for me. I initially built it with dual coils, 8/9 wrap, 28g kanthal, tried it out on both a sans private v3 and a nemesis mod and it will not light up. I tried rebuilding it with just a single coil, 5/6 wrap and it lit up nicely for a few minutes on my v3 then nothing again. It doesn't seem to be working on my nemesis at all. I don't know what I could be doing wrong here. I have a tobh atty that vapes like a champ on both my nemesis and v3. Any tips or ideas on what the problem might be and how I could fix it, would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the noob questions, but I'm not entirely sure what "popping" the coil leg means. I did pull the coil off of the atty to ensure that I didn't accidentally damage the wire by tightening the screw too much, or adjusting the coil, etc. I've built new coils for it 3 or 4 times in case I was messing up the wire somehow but everything looks fine. I've had multiple dripper setups but this is my first genny.

Ah, okay. By "popping" the coil, I meant the coil actually overheats and breaks at some point

Perhaps you just need to try making a new wick? If it's not properly oxidized the coil can short to the mesh and electricity takes the path of least resistance, which in this case would be the wick rather than the coil.

The learning curve can be a little tough on those sometimes. I'm sure someone else will be able to pop in here and offer some more detailed help. In the meantime, all the advice I have at the moment is to try watching a few more build instruction videos to try to find where you went wrong

Oh, and don't apologize for "noob" questions, we've all been there :)

The coil is probably shorting out on the mesh;
If you were using a regulated mod, your mod would have told you that.

In any case you should be using a multimeter on your coils especially when using mesh.

Does your battery get hot? What kind of battery are you using?

Since you already use a tobh, might as well do a cotton wick on the genny; people do that..
