Ahh...well, I'm no expert in this area. I've only ever used 510 attys. From what I understand the 801 has a smoother draw being as it has 4 holes for airflow vs. two. I'd start a thread asking what the difference is in vaping experience between the two, I'm sure you will get a lot of opinions. Also, until very recently, the 801 and 901 did not have manual batteries. The Prodigy is of course a manual device.

I started on a 901 at first. Then I purchased an 801.

I now prefer my DSE801 (high bridge atomizer), here's why:

* Smoother draw, it takes much less effort to achieve better vapor. It is more like a "normal" cigarette drag.

* The 801 holds more liquid when dripping.
I've found the 901's are tricky, because the reservoir is shallow, the air hole had a tendency to leak (floods) too easily. It is harder to achieve consistency..... I found this to be a "hassle".

* The 801 has much better consistency.

* The 801 runs cooler, which allows for more drags in between "cool down" time.

* I believe the 801 is stronger, it is a workhorse! Pretty much flawless.

* I like BIG vapor.... the DSE801 definitely does this!

I feel that the flavor is a little more pronounced on the 901, but not enough to sway me back to it.

Thanks Closet Toker, that will be my next order, a 801 adaptor for the Prodigy. Should probably pick one up for the Pass thru also. I agree with what you said about the 901 easy flooding to be true. I would like it to hold more juice than it does. I notice on the SLB atomizers that they hold a bit more than the RN does. The RN gets that gurgling sound more than the SLB does. Not too sure if that has anything to do with the size of the reservoir or what.
How many drops do you start off with (on a dried out) 801 atty? I will normally use about 5 or 6 on the 901 when it has been blown out and sat over night to drain. And do you notice any difference in the throat hit between the two with the same juice?

You won't regret it... good choice!

I usually drip 5 drops, take a few puffs, then add a couple of more. You'll be able to "taste" when you need to add more liquid.

I think the throat hit on the 901 is slightly stronger, 'cause it heats up hotter. But like I said, after a few drags, you gotta let the 901 cool down. Not a problem on the 801.

The problem on the 901, I had was "chemical" burn on the roof of my mouth (I vape a lot!). I believe it was caused by the "hot" vapor produced. I very seldom have that problem on the 801.

I feel the larger amount of vapor on the 801 compensates for this. I like the "lung" hit I get, very much like real smoking. The vapor on the 801 is amazing, that's truly important for me.

I am confident you will be pleased.
